‘The Morning Show’: Apple TV+ Series Gets Trailer & September Premiere Date

by Dave Elliott

Critically-acclaimed and award-winning drama The Morning Show returns for a 2nd Season this September to Apple TV+, and also has landed a new trailer to give you a taste of what’s to come.

Set behind the scenes of a tv station, the dramedy asks “what happens when the people you trust to tell the truth prove themselves to be dishonest?” The Morning Show follows the free fall of an early morning newscast in the wake of a scandal, and its struggle to survive in an era when news arrives in the palm of your hand.

As you can see in the trailer, things seem to pick up pretty much where we left them, with Alex (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) on-air, when the duo break and expose the network’s knowledge of the misconduct and toxic culture at the station. Moving forward, ‘The Morning Show’ team emerges from the wreckage of the duo’s actions to a new UBA and a world in flux, where identity is everything and the chasm between who we present as, and who we really are, comes into play.

Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, Janina Gavankar and Tom Irwin are also set to reprise their roles from season one.

The returning cast are joined by Greta Lee (‘Russian Doll’) as Stella Bak, an ambitious leader of an online media company that caters to a millennial and Gen Z audience; Ruairi O’Connor as Ty Fitzgerald (‘The Spanish Princess’), a charismatic and savvy YouTube star; Hasan Minhaj (‘Patriot Act’, ‘The Daily Show’) as Eric, a charismatic, rising star, who joins The Morning Show team; Holland Taylor (‘The Practice’, ‘Hollywood’) as Cybil Richards, the savvy chairwoman of the UBA board; Tara Karsian (‘American Horror Story’) as Gayle Berman, a news producer; Valeria Golino (‘In Treatment’) as Paola xxx, a documentary filmmaker; and Julianna Margulies (‘ER’, ‘The Hot Zone’) as Laura Peterson, a UBA news anchor.

The series comes from showrunner and executive producer Kerry Ehrin. Michael Ellenberg also exec produces through Media Res, which also serves as the studio, along with Jennifer Aniston and Kristin Hahn through Echo Films; Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter through Hello Sunshine; and Mimi Leder, who also directs several episodes.

The Morning Show‘ Season 2 premieres Friday, 17th September 2021 on Apple TV+. The 10-episode season will premiere with the first episode, followed by one new episode weekly each Friday.
