‘Picard’ Season 2 Tease Give First Look At Q’s Return

As today is “Captain Picard Day“, Paramount+ decided it would be the perfect opportunity to drop a new little teaser for Star Trek: Picard Season 2, which shows the return of John De Lancie as Q, along with giving a couple more hints about the upcoming season.

The new tease, which you can see below, has Jean-Luc (Patrick Stewart) returning to Château Picard, and shouting for Laris, his housekeeper. Sensing something isn’t quite right, he suddenly hears a familiar voice… “Excellent question, Jean-Luc… Oh dear… you’re a bit older than I imagined. Mon Capitaine, how I’ve missed you…”

Q then goes on to say this is the very end of “the road not taken”, implying he has somewhat messed with reality (how very “Q” of him…), presumably creating some sort of alternate timeline. We then see what this alt-history looks like. Rios (Santiago Cabrera) stands confused, as he appears to be wearing a Starfleet badge, albeit one of a different design, having previously left the organisation following the death of his captain. Soji (Isa Briones) has a shiny white outfit and a new haircut (so appears to have gotten off easy at first glance!) The biggest change seems to come for Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), who wakes up without any sign of her Borg implants! Picard vows to “save the future” and get everyone home, but before that happens it looks like we’re in for a very interesting ride!

Alongside Stewart, Cabrera, Briones and Ryan, the series will see the return of Alison Pill as Agnes Jurati, Evan Evagora as Elnor, Michelle Hurd as Raffi, Orla Brady as Laris and Brent Spiner as… Data? Altan Inigo Soong? Someone else entirely? Unclear at the moment!

The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. For season two, Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Terry Matalas, Patrick Stewart, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Doug Aarniokoski and Dylan Massin serve as executive producers; Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout) and Kirsten Beyer serve as co-executive producers. Akiva Goldsman and Terry Matalas serve as co-showrunners for season two.

Star Trek: Picard‘ Season 2 will premiere in 2022 on Amazon Prime Video in the UK and in over 200 countries and territories. The series airs on Paramount+ in the USA.
