‘Dr Death’: Starzplay Sets Sept UK Premiere For Limited Series Starring Joshua Jackson, Christian Slater, Alec Baldwin
Starzplay has announced the hotly anticipated limited series ‘Dr. Death‘, will premiere this September exclusively in Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK, and Latin America on streaming service.
Based on the hit U.S.podcast from Wondery, ‘Dr. Death’ is based on the terrifying true story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch (Joshua Jackson), a rising star in the Dallas medical community. Young, charismatic and ostensibly brilliant, Dr. Duntsch was building a flourishing neurosurgery practice when everything suddenly changed. Patients entered his operating room for complex but routine spinal surgeries and left permanently maimed or dead. As victims piled up, two fellow physicians, neurosurgeon Robert Henderson (Alec Baldwin) and vascular surgeon Randall Kirby (Christian Slater), as well as Dallas prosecutor Michelle Shugart (AnnaSophia Robb) set out to stop him. ‘Dr. Death’ explores the twisted mind of Dr. Duntsch and the failures of the system designed to protect the most defenceless among us.
The drama stars Joshua Jackson (‘Little Fires Everywhere’, ‘The Affair’) as the titular character, along with Alec Baldwin (‘A Star is Born’, ’30 Rock’, ‘Saturday Night Live’), Christian Slater (‘Dirty John’, ‘Mr. Robot’), Grace Gummer (‘Mr. Robot’, ‘The Hot Zone’), Anna Sophia Robb (‘The Act’, ‘Little Fires Everywhere’) and Carrie Preston (‘Claws’, ‘The Good Wife’).
The series boasts an all-female directing team which includes Maggie Kiley (‘Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story’, ‘Riverdale’, ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’), who will also executive produce the first two episodes; Jennifer Morrison (‘Euphoria’), and So Yong Kim (‘Tales from the Loop’, ‘Room 104’).
Produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, ‘Dr. Death’ is executive produced by Patrick Macmanus (‘The Girl from Plainville’) via his Littleton Road Productions banner, and under his overall deal with UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. Macmanus also serves as showrunner. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and Taylor Latham also executive produce via Escape Artists, as well as Hernan Lopez and Marshall Lewy of Wondery.

The service costs £4.99 a month, but does come with a free trial.
