Premieres Coming To Disney+ UK & STAR In September 2021

Disney has released their full list of upcoming premieres for September on Disney+ and Star in the UK, and it’s another great mix of old and brand new series for you to enjoy. Here is a breakdown of all the premieres landing on the streaming service next month.

Disney+ & STAR Originals September Highlights

That One Word: Feyenoord – 1st September 2021

One that may be of interest to football fans. ‘That One Word – Feyenoord’ follows one of the most successful clubs in Dutch football, who have won 15 Eredivisie titles, 13 KNVB Cups, and 4 Johan Cruyff Shields. Internationally, it has won one European Cup, two UEFA Cups, and one Intercontinental Cup. This behind-the-scenes series will show how the player’s train at the complex and much more. Sorry, the only trailer I can find is in Dutch, so you’ll need to turn on the auto-translate subtitles (I’m assuming it will be subtitled in English on release!)

American Horror Stories – 8th September 2021

‘American Horror Stories’ is a spin-off of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s award-winning hit series ‘American Horror Story’. The seven-episode anthology series features a different horror story each episode, rather than each season. Some of those tales tie back into events and characters from the main show.

The cast for the series includes a number of familiar faces from the main show including Matt Bomer, Naomi Grossman, Cody Fern, Chad James Buchanan, John Carroll Lynch, Dylan McDermott, Charles Melton and Billie Lourd. They are joined by newcomers to the franchise such as Danny Trejo, Kevin McHale, Dyllón Burnside, Madison Bailey, Rhenzy Feliz, Amy Grabow, Nico Greetham, Ronen Rubinstein, Virginia Gardner and Dane Diliegro.

Doogie Kamealoha M.D. – 8th September 2021

inspired by the hit 80s medical series ‘Doogie Howser, M.D.’, the series follows Lahela “Doogie” Kamealoha, a 16-year-old prodigy juggling a budding medical career and life as a teenager. With the support of her caring and comical ‘ohana (family) and friends, Lahela is determined to make the most of her teenage years and forge her own path.

Peyton Elizabeth Lee (‘Andi Mack’) stars as the title lead alongside a diverse and talented ensemble cast including Kathleen Rose Perkins (‘Big Shot’) as Dr. Clara Hannon, Jason Scott Lee (‘Mulan’) as Benny Kamealoha, Matthew Sato (‘Hawaii Five-O’) as Kai Kamealoha, Wes Tian as Brian Patrick Kamealoha, Emma Meisel (‘American Horror Story’) as Steph, Mapuana Makia (‘Finding ‘Ohana’) as Noelani and Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman (‘UnREAL’) as Charles. Recurring stars include Alex Aiono (‘Finding ‘Ohana’) as Walter and Ronny Chieng (‘Crazy Rich Asians’) as Dr. Lee.

Star Wars Visions – 22nd September 2021

‘Star Wars Visions’ is an anthology series from Lucasfilm which tells new Star Wars stories through the singular style and tradition of Japanese anime. The trailer provides a glimpse of the captivating tone and stunning visuals from each of the animated shorts, which can all be viewed both with the original Japanese voice cast or the English dub. Y: The Last Man – 22nd September 2021

https://youtu.be/vbxsCt-CkKY

‘Y: The Last Man’ traverses a post-apocalyptic world in which a cataclysmic event decimates every mammal with a Y chromosome but for one cisgender man and his pet monkey. The series follows the survivors in this new world as they struggle with their efforts to restore what was lost and the opportunity to build something better.

As the planet descends into a post-apocalyptic nightmare, Yorick, accompanied by a mysterious government agent, a brilliant young geneticist and his pet monkey, Ampersand, travels the world in search of his lost love and the answer to why he’s the last man on earth.

The drama stars Ben Schnetzer (‘Happy Town’, ‘Pride’) as the titular last man; Amber Tamblyn (‘Two and a Half Men’, ‘The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret’); Diane Lane (‘Man of Steel’); Ashley Romans (‘NOS4A2’); Diana Bang (‘Resident Alien’, ‘The Order’); Elliot Fletcher (‘Shameless’, ‘The Fosters’); Juliana Canfield (‘Succession’); Marin Ireland (‘The Umbrella Academy’, ‘Sneaky Pete’); And Olivia Thirlby (‘The L Word: Generation Q’, ‘Goliath’).

Other Notable September Launches On Disney+ UK & Star

Alongside the various “Originals”, there are some interesting boxsets being added to the streaming service for you to rewatch, or see for the first time.

For those of you needing to catch up with Seth Macfarlane’s wonderful space dramedy ‘The Orville’, seasons one and two will be arriving on the 15th September, before the third season drops (hopefully!) later this year. Also landing on the 15th are all three seasons of ‘No Offence’, the outrageous police procedural series from the writer of ‘Shameless’.

On 22nd September, you can catch the single season of ‘Stumptown’, which was cruelly cut down before its time. That is joined by the superb six-part drama ‘Press’, starring Charlotte Riley and Ben Chaplin from the creator of ‘Doctor Foster’, and compelling Channel 4 drama ‘Deadwater Fell’ starring the ever watchable David Tennant.
