‘Cobra Kai’ Renewed For Season 5

Season 4 might not be due until December, but Netflix has already decided Cobra Kai will “wax-on” again for a 5th Season!

‘Cobra Kai’ takes place 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, where a now-successful Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) struggles to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of Mr. Miyagi and must face his previous adversary, down-and-out Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), who seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo.

The renewal shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, given the series has been racking up Emmy nominations this year, landing nods for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Sound Editing, Outstanding Stunt Performance, and Outstanding Sound Mixing. The series, which shoots in Atlanta, is set to return to filming the 5th Season this Autumn.

The most recent third season found everyone reeling in the aftermath of the violent high school brawl between their dojos, which had left Miguel (Xolo Mariduena) in a precarious condition. While Daniel searched for answers in his past and Johnny sought redemption, Kreese (Martin Kove) further manipulated his vulnerable students with his own vision of dominance. The soul of the Valley was at stake, and the fate of every student and sensei hung in the balance… The finale ended with a twist that saw Daniel and Johnny’s dojos join forces to take down John Kreese (Martin Kove) at the All Valley Tournament.

In the upcoming 4th Season, that battle for the soul of the Valley kicks into high gear with the return of the aforementioned All Valley Karate Tournament, alongside the return of Kreese’s shady best friend Terry Silver (played by Thomas Ian Griffith). The series promises “Legends will be born…”

‘Cobra Kai’ is written and executive produced by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg via their production company, Counterbalance Entertainment. Will Smith, James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett executive produce for Overbrook Entertainment along with Susan Ekins in association with Sony Pictures Television. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka serve as co-executive producers.

Cobra Kai‘ Season 4 will premiere in December 2021 (day/time TBC) on Netflix UK and worldwide. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
