Interestingly I just saw that Cobra Kai has left YouTube and is looking for a new streaming home
It hasn’t left yet. The 3rd Season is still due to air on YouTube, but it’ll be the final season on there as they told producers they wouldn’t order a 4th Season. So they are shopping it to other streaming services at the moment.
Oh interesting thanks Dave. Do you know if they are still planning to show it with ads on YouTube so I don’t have to sign up to premium again?
Ahh, sorry, I just rechecked and I misread the story… It seems you’re correct… The 3rd Season is likely to go exclusively to another platform… (this is why I shouldn’t read news late at night!)
Sony Pictures TV worked out a deal with YouTube to shop the first 2 seasons around to another streaming service on a non-exclusive deal, meaning those 2 seasons would also stay on YouTube) with a view that whoever takes it would pick it up for an exclusive 3rd Season.
So say, for example, Netflix took it, the first 2 seasons would be on YouTube and Netflix, but the 3rd Season (and any subsequent seasons) would be exclusive to Netflix – or whoever the streaming service turns out to be… Netflix and Hulu seem to be leading the bidding, so it would suck for the UK if Hulu got it…
Oh thanks! Fingers crossed for Netflix
