Georgia & David Tennant To Develop & Star In Jekyll & Hyde Thriller ‘Hide’ For Peacock

David and Georgia Tennant could be about to team up again on-screen, as news lands that they have been lined up to star and produce ‘Hide’, a Jekyll & Hyde inspired thriller series currently being developed for Peacock.

Described as “a Jekyll & Hyde tale by way of a conspiracy thriller”, the drama sees David Tennant play a disgraced journalist who stumbles upon a story that could resurrect his career. But he quickly learns he’s seen something he shouldn’t have, and is now the target of unknown adversaries who will do anything to silence him. On the run, as people around him go missing or die, a serious accident has an extraordinary side effect, and he realizes there are monsters in the world, and he may be one of them…

David Tennant would star and exec produce alongside wife and actor Georgia. ‘Hide’ is written/executive produced by WGA Award-nominated showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters (‘Emergence’, ‘Agent Carter’), with the Emmy, BAFTA, and DGA-nominated Julie Anne Robinson (‘Bridgerton’, ‘The Catch’, ‘Blackpool’) exec producing and directing.

“I am ecstatic to have this opportunity to work with such creative and talented individuals,” commented Robinson. “The Jekyll and Hyde story is a classic, and it is so thrilling to be bringing a new and exciting iteration to the screen with such brilliant collaborators.”

Robinson and Tennant (David) are good friends, who first worked together on the critically acclaimed BBC series ‘Blackpool’ which kick-started both of their careers. David and Georgia were most recently seen together in the utterly brilliant ‘Staged’ playing versions of themselves dealing with lockdown, whilst David rehearses a play via Zoom with his other on-screen partner, Michael Sheen.

“One of my earliest jobs was playing ‘first policeman’ in a BBC radio adaptation of ‘Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’,” adds David Tennant. “I read the book many years ago and I’ve been fascinated with this character for as long as I can remember. This story has followed me around for years, tapping on my shoulder slightly impatiently. When Julie Anne approached me to talk about reimagining it for the 21st century, alongside her, the magnificent Fazekas and Butters and with the ever-brilliant Georgia Tennant, I didn’t let her finish the sentence. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be playing this character, telling this story and working with these people.”

Peacock is set to launch later this year in the UK on Sky Q and NOW. Ad-supported Peacock programming will be available to all Sky TV customers at no additional cost, bundled as part of the entertainment membership on NOW. The service will include a wide array of content with Peacock Originals as well as NBCUniversal’s iconic library of series and movies.

‘Hide’ is currently “in development” for Peacock, but I really hope it all comes together given the people involved. We’ll let you know when we hear more!
