‘Star Trek: Picard’ Season 2 Lands A Full Time-Travelling Trailer, Premiering February 2022

by Dave Elliott

Star Trek: Picard will be boldly going back in time, as the trailer arrives for Season 2, coming to Paramount+ in the USA and Amazon Prime in the UK from February 2022.

‘Star Trek: Picard’ features Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’, and follows this iconic character into the next chapter of his life. Season one saw Picard pull together a rag-tag group of people to head out on a mission to help a woman who appears to have some connection to Data. This leads him to a conspiracy involving Romulans, an abandoned Borg cube, and artificial lifeforms.

As you’re probably aware if you’ve read or seen anything about season two, it features the return of John De Lancie as Q, which is never a good thing (not for the characters anyway, but great for the viewers!) In the trailer, we get a callback to the TNG episode ‘All Good Things…’, as Q reminds Jean-Luc that “the trial never ends”… It seems this new “trial” sees the interfering extra-dimensional being alter something in the past, changing TNG’s utopian future into a totalitarian state. This leads to Picard and his crew seeking out the Borg Queen to help them travel back to the 21st Century, and fix whatever it was that Q messed with.

The cast for Season 2 includes Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, Alison Pill as Agnes Jurati, Isa Briones as Soji Asha, Evan Evagora as Elnor, Michelle Hurd as “Raffi” Musiker, Santiago Cabrera as “Chris” Rios, Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, Orla Brady as Laris, John de Lancie as Q, Annie Wersching as the Borg Queen, and Brent Spiner as (presumably) Altan Inigo Soong rather than Data, but we’ll have to wait and see!

The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. For season two, Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Terry Matalas, Patrick Stewart, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Doug Aarniokoski and Dylan Massin serve as executive producers; and Kirsten Beyer serves as co-executive producer. Akiva Goldsman and Terry Matalas serve as co-showrunners for season two.

Star Trek: Picard‘ Season 2 premieres in February 2022 on Amazon Prime in the UK, and Paramount+ in the USA (exact date TBC).
