‘Dexter: New Blood’ Gets Full Official Trailer With Some Interesting Suprises!
Dexter and his “Dark Passenger” return as Showtime releases the full official trailer for ‘Dexter: New Blood‘, the upcoming revival series, due to premiere this November on the US network, and on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan, a complicated and conflicted man, who previously worked as a blood-spatter expert for the Miami police department, but also moonlights as a serial killer. Set 10 years after Dexter went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, the revival series finds him living under an assumed name in the fictional small town of Iron Lake, New York. Dexter may be embracing his new life, but in the wake of unexpected events in this close-knit community, his Dark Passenger inevitably beckons.
The trailer has some interesting surprises, including some shots of Jennifer Carpenter as Debra Morgan, Dexter’s very much dead sister. Given how she is berating him in the trailer, I do wonder if she has taken over the role played by his dead adoptive father Harry (James Remar) in the original, where he would appear as a sort of conscience or guide when Dexter was trying to work through his problems. The other big reveal is that Jack Alcott (‘The Good Lord Bird’) will be playing Dexter’s teenage son Harrison, who mysteriously returns to Dexter’s life after 10 years apart.
Other cast for the show includes Clancy Brown (‘Highlander’, ‘Sleepy Hollow’, ‘Billions’) as Kurt Caldwell, who is lined up as the main antagonist in the series; Julia Jones (‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Goliath’) as Angela Bishop, the first Native American Chief of Police in the town, and seemingly, based on the trailer, Dexter’s love interest; Johnny Sequoyah (‘Believe’) as Audrey, Bishop’s brash and opinionated teenage daughter; Alano Miller (‘Sylvie’s Love’) as Logan, a sergeant for the Iron Lake Police Department and the assistant wrestling coach for the local high school; David Magidoff (‘The Morning Show’) as Teddy, a new cop in Iron Lake PD, who is good-natured, quirky, hardworking, eager to please, and dependable; And Jamie Chung (‘Lovecraft Country’, ‘The Gifted’) as a famous LA true-crime podcaster who finds herself caught up in the central mystery.
The eight-season run of the original ‘Dexter’ premiered in the autumn of 2006 on Showtime in the USA and became one of the most acclaimed series on television. The drama earning multiple Emmy nominations for best television drama series as well as a prestigious Peabody Award in 2008, and was twice named one of AFI’s top 10 television series.
‘Dexter: New Blood‘ premieres Sunday, November 7, 2021, on Showtime in the USA. We do know it is coming to Sky Atlantic in the UK this November too and seems likely it will air very soon after the USA, but Sky hasn’t confirmed a date as yet. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
