Sony has released a new trailer for ‘Morbius’, the next film in their Spider-Man Universe (SSU) franchise, which is due to land in cinemas in January 2022.
The film stars Jared Leto as one of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters, the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first, it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?
Alongside Leto in the lead role, the movie stars Matt Smith (‘Doctor Who’, ‘The Crown’) as Loxias Crown, Morbius’ friend who suffers from the same rare blood disease; Adria Arjona (‘Good Omens’, ‘Andor’) as Martine Bancroft, Morbius’ fiancée; Jared Harris (‘Foundation’, ‘Chernobyl’) as Morbius’ mentor; With Al Madrigal (‘The Way Back’, ‘I’m Dying Up Here’) and Tyrese Gibson (‘Fast & Furious’ franchise) as Alberto Rodriguez and Simon Stroud, the FBI agents hunting Morbius. As you can see in the trailer, Michael Keaton reprises his role as Adrian Toomes, aka Vulture, from the Spider-man movies.
From Columbia Pictures and Marvel Entertainment, the film is directed by Daniel Espinosa (‘Life’) from on a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (‘The Last Witch Hunter’), based on characters created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane. The movie is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Lucas Foster.
‘Morbius’ comes to UK cinemas from Friday 21st January 2022.
