Premieres Coming To Disney+ UK & STAR In December 2021
Disney has released their full list of upcoming premieres for December on Disney+ and Star in the UK, as the streaming service heads toward the end of 2021… And, of course, the return of a certain bounty hunter! Here is a breakdown of all the premieres landing on the streaming service next month.
Disney+ & STAR Originals December Highlights
The Last Duel – 1st December 2021
Jodie Comer gives a stunning performance in this thought-provoking drama set against the brutality of 14th century France from visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott. Based on actual events, the film centres on the accusation by Marguerite de Carrouges (Comer) that she was brutally assaulted by Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver), the friend of her husband, Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon). In order to protect his pride and prove his wife’s claim, de Carrouges requests to fight Le Gris to the death. Now, all three lives hang in the balance in this society that holds that the victor of this grisly duel will be determined by God. Moreover, if de Carrouges dies in this fight, Marguerite will be put to death.
The Big Leap – 1st December 2021
From 20th Television and Fox Entertainment comes this big-hearted, rowdy dramedy which follows a group of diverse, down-on-their-luck characters attempting to change their lives by participating in a potentially life-ruining, reality dance show.
Diary of Wimpy Kid – 3rd December 2021
Greg Heffley is a scrawny but ambitious kid with an active imagination and big plans to be rich and famous – he just has to survive middle school first. To make matters worse, Greg’s lovable best friend Rowley seems to coast through life and succeed at everything without even trying! As details of his hilarious – and often disastrous – attempts to fit in, fill the pages of his journal, Greg learns to appreciate true friends and the satisfaction that comes from standing up for what is right.
Welcome to Earth – 8th December 2021
It might seem humans have mapped every inch of our planet’s surface, but look closer and you’ll discover that there is still so much more to uncover and the age of exploration is far from over. Other Notable December Launches On Disney+ UK & Star
Alongside the various “Originals”, there are some interesting boxsets and films being added to the streaming service for you to rewatch, or see for the first time.
Beginning with the boxsets, Alex Garland’s critically-acclaimed sci-fi limited-series ‘Devs’ arrives on 1st December for you to binge through, along with all three seasons of the drama ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’. ‘Black-ish’ Season 7 lands on 8th December, for those of you who got sick of trying to track it down on E4’s random scheduling. For those of you who would like to see Walter White before he “broke bad”, all seven seasons of ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ are set to land on 15th December. And ‘American Housewife’ will drop all five seasons on 22nd December, which is a UK premiere for Seasons 4 & 5 (the first 3 seasons having run on both W and Amazon Prime).
On the film side, the classic Christmas movie ‘Die Hard’ joins the streaming service on 1st December, which is always a great way to start the festive season, then on the 10th December, you can catch Diablo Cody’s wonderful ‘Juno’ starring Elliot Page. The 17th December brings you ‘JoJo Rabbit’, Taika Waititi’s fantastic adaptation of Christine Leunens’s 2008 book Caging Skies, then you can spend Christmas Eve with Disney’s ‘Encanto’.
