Most Anticipated Film Of 2022

Nominees: Black Adam, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Death on the Nile, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, John Wick: Chapter 4, Jurassic World: Dominion, Lightyear, Mission: Impossible 7, Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Batman, The Flash, The Matrix: Resurrections, Thor: Love and Thunder, Top Gun: Maverick

Bronze: John Wick: Chapter 4

Silver: Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

And the Gold goes to …

Winner: Spider-Man: No Way Home

Well, of course, it was going to be ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’… I’m sure you’re thinking “wait, this is out already”, however, the Awards eligibility period runs from 1st December 2020 to 30th November 2021, meaning this film technically sits in the next year’s award period, not this year’s.

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighbourhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his superhero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.

The movie has been a global smash hit already, taking a worldwide box office of $1.254 billion, and growing! It became the third-fastest movie to reach the one billion dollar milestone and the first to do so during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has also been getting rave reviews across the board.

Outside of the top spot, it is interesting to see the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise still going strong, with ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore’ taking silver. Beloved actor Keanu Reeves is also having a good year, securing the bronze position with ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’, narrowly beating… himself… with ‘The Matrix: Resurrections’, which landed in 4th place.

Most Anticipated Game Of 2022

Nominees: Dying Light 2, Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarok, Gotham Knights, Horizon Forbidden West, Hogwarts Legacy, Kerbal Space Program 2, Starfield, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

Bronze: God of War: Ragnarok

Silver: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

And the Gold goes to …

Winner: Hogwarts Legacy

Due to delays, ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ was also in the 2021 list taking silver, but has clawed its way up to the gold spot for 2022, and also now has a trailer.

‘Hogwarts Legacy’ is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. Now you can take control of the action and be at the centre of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover fantastic beasts, customize your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents, and become the wizard you want to be.

Set in Hogwarts in the 1800s, your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. You have received a late acceptance to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and soon discover that you are no ordinary student: you possess an unusual ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic. Only you can decide if you will protect this secret for the good of all, or yield to the temptation of more sinister magic.

The Lord of the Rings

Despite most of the shows on the list coming from Disney+, they only managed to nab the silver award with ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’. The top spot shows that Amazon knew what they were doing when they closed the deal to bring a series based on The Lord of the Rings to the small screen.

The new epic drama brings to screens for the very first time J.R.R. Tolkien’s fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. Beginning in a time of relative peace, thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ books, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.

Secrecy around the drama has been tight, and there is currently no trailer or confirmed plot. The large cast for the series includes Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman, Sir Lenny Henry, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Maxim Baldry, Ian Blackburn, Kip Chapman, Anthony Crum, Maxine Cunliffe, Trystan Gravelle, Thusitha Jayasundera, Fabian McCallum, Simon Merrells, Geoff Morrell, Peter Mullan, Lloyd Owen, Augustus Prew, Peter Tait, Alex Tarrant, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker and Sara Zwangoban. However, at the moment, we have no idea who anyone is playing.

The ‘Lord Of the Rings‘ series will premiere Friday, 2nd September 2022 on Amazon Prime UK and worldwide.
