‘Station 19’ Renewed For Season 6

After the announcement that Grey’s Anatomy’ was going to be back for a new season, it should come as a huge surprise that ABC has also now renewed Station 19, which returns for Season 6.

The series follows a group of heroic Seattle firefighters as they put their lives and hearts on the line. The latest series, from the executive producers of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, takes us inside the tough, tight-knit and sometimes heartbreaking world of the city’s bravest first responders.

Executive producer and showrunner Krista Vernoff will continue to helm the successful ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ spinoff series. Vernoff was originally head writer and executive producer of ‘Grey’s’ for the first seven seasons, but left in 2011. She returned to the series as showrunner on both dramas in 2019 whilst also signing a multi-year overall deal with ABC Signature.

“It’s a privilege to tell stories of our heroic first responders, who on our show and in real life put their lives on the line every day to keep us all safe,” commented Vernoff. “I’m so grateful to Disney and ABC for the early pickup for season six of ‘Station 19!’ It’s a tribute to the incredible work of our talented cast, crew, writers and creative team, as well as the dedication of our loyal fans who tune in every week.”

Whatever you think of the storylines on the shows, there is no denying Vernoff revitalised the ratings for ABC, increasing the crossovers and integrating plots across both dramas. ‘Station 19’ averages a 2.17 rating among Adults 18-49 this season after 35 days of viewing on linear and digital platforms, marking an increase of +234% over its initial Live+Same Day rating.

“The riveting storytelling and passionate fan base that ‘Station 19’ continues to cultivate is a testament to the unrelenting dedication of Krista Vernoff and the incredibly talented cast and crew,” said Craig Erwich, president, Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment. “Coupled with yesterday’s renewal of ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ the return of ‘Station 19’ ensures more crossover opportunities and a thrilling night of appointment television.”

‘Station 19’ stars Jaina Lee Ortiz as Andy Herrera, Jason George as Ben Warren, Boris Kodjoe as Robert Sullivan, Grey Damon as Jack Gibson, Barrett Doss as Victoria Hughes, Jay Hayden as Travis Montgomery, Danielle Savre as Maya Bishop, Stefania Spampinato as Carina DeLuca and Carlos Miranda as Theo Ruiz.

Krista Vernoff serves as showrunner and executive producer. The series was created by Stacy McKee. Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers serve as executive producers. ‘Station 19’ is produced by ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios.

Station 19‘ (Season 5) and ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘ (Season 18), are on mid-season breaks in the USA and UK at the moment. Both shows return to ABC in the USA on Thursday, February 24, 2022 (beginning 9pm EST), in a crossover event. The series should both return soon after that to Sky Witness in the UK, however, if you want to keep track of these shows you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
