‘How I Met Your Father’: Disney+ UK Picks Up Comedy With May Premiere Date
Disney+ UK has picked up new comedy ‘How I Met Your Father‘, the spin-off from the hugely popular ‘How I Met Your Mother’, along with setting a May UK premiere date (this was previously announced as coming in March, but Disney+ has bumped the date back.)
In the near future, Sophie is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the present where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.
The series stars Hilary Duff as Sophie a hopelessly romantic photographer who is looking for her soulmate; Chris Lowell as Jesse, an aspiring musician who works as an Uber driver, and happens to lives in Ted, Marshall and Lily’s old apartment; Francia Raisa as Valentina, an impulsive assistant-stylist who is also Sophie’s best friend and roommate; Tom Ainsley as Charlie, a British aristocrat who moves in with Sophie and Valentina after meeting the latter at London Fashion Week; Tien Tran as Ellen, Jesse’s adoptive sister who moves to New York City after her divorce from her wife; And Suraj Sharma as Sid, Jesse’s best friend and roommate who owns a bar.
The recurring cast includes Ashley Reyes as Hannah, Sid’s longtime girlfriend who works as a surgeon in Los Angeles; Daniel Augustin as Ian, Sophie’s Tinder date; Leighton Meester as Meredith, Jesse’s ex-girlfriend; And Josh Peck as Drew. Kim Cattrall appears as the older version of Sophie.
‘How I Met Your Father’ is written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Executive producers include Aptaker, Berger, Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, Pam Fryman, and Adam Londy. Duff will serve as a producer. The comedy is produced by 20th Television.
