‘Raising Dion’: Season 2 Gets A Trailer, Premiering February On Netflix

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has released a trailer for Season 2 of superhero comic book series Raising Dion, which premieres this February on the streaming service.

Raising Dion’ follows the story of a Nicole (Alisha Wainwright – ‘Shadowhunters’), who raises her son Dion (Ja’Siah Young) after the death of her husband, Mark (Michael B. Jordan – ‘Black Panther’). The normal dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion starts to manifest several mysterious, superhero-like abilities. In season one, Nicole struggled to keep her son’s gifts secret with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat (Jason Ritter – ‘The Event’, ‘Gravity Falls’), and protect Dion from antagonists out to exploit him while figuring out the origin of his abilities.

Season two picks up two years after the events of last season, and follows Dion as he continues honing his powers with the support of his mom and Tevin (Rome Flynn), his Biona trainer who catches Nicole’s eye. After befriending new student Brayden (Griffin Robert Faulkner) – a fellow powered kid – a series of alarming events unfold, and Dion learns that danger is still looming. Navigating twists, turns, and surprise visitors, Dion and Nicole must prevail again – not just to save themselves, but the entire city of Atlanta.

Carol Barbee (‘UnREAL’, ‘Jericho’, ‘Touch’) serves as showrunner/executive producer, alongside Michael B. Jordan through his Outlier Society Productions, Michael Green (‘American Gods’, ‘Logan’), Charles D. King, and Kenny Goodman. The drama is the brainchild of commercial and music video director Dennis Liu, who created the comic book and directed the short film, which became a viral hit. He also serves as exec producer.

Raising Dion‘ Season 2 premieres Tuesday, 1st February 2022 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
