‘Moon Knight’: Disney+ Releases New TV Spot, Premiering March On Streaming Service

by Dave Elliott

During the Super Bowl last night, Disney+ released a new TV spot/trailer for Moon Knight, the latest edition to the Marvel tv shows, coming March to the streaming service.

The story follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.

‘Moon Knight’ stars Oscar Isaac in the title role, alongside Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy. Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Grant Curtis, Brad Winderbaum, Oscar Isaac, Mohamed Diab and Jeremy Slater are the executive producers, with Trevor Waterson and Rebecca Kirsch serving as co-executive producers. Jeremy Slater is the head writer.

Interestingly, in a recent interview with Empire, Feige remarked on how the series will push the boundaries of what they can get away with on the PG13-rated streaming service. “It’s been fun to work with Disney+ and see the boundaries shifting on what we’re able to do,” commented the Marvel head-honcho. “There are moments when Moon Knight is wailing on another character, and it is loud and brutal, and the knee-jerk reaction is, ‘We’re gonna pull back on this, right?’ No. We’re not pulling back. There’s a tonal shift. This is a different thing. This is Moon Knight.”

‘Moon Knight’ is the first new Marvel solo character to have his introduction in their own Disney+ series, but there are more to follow. Also coming this year are ‘She-Hulk’, played by the amazing Tatiana Maslany, and ‘Ms. Marvel’, played by newcomer Iman Vellani. That will be followed in late 2022 by ‘Secret Invasion’, which sees Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn and Cobie Smulders reprise their MCU roles as Nick Fury, Talos and Maria Hill, ending the year with the much anticipated ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’. At some point after that, we also have the ‘Ironheart’ series, ‘Armor Wars’, and the, currently untitled, Wakanda series.

Moon Knight‘ premieres Wednesday, 30th March 2022 on Disney+ worldwide.
