‘Shrinking’: Apple TV+ Series Adds Harrison Ford In Comedy From Jason Segel & ‘Ted Lasso’ Team

Harrison Ford has signed up to his first major TV role as the iconic star joins Shrinking, a new Apple TV+ comedy also starring Jason Segel, who serves as writer and executive producer alongside Emmy Award winners Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein (‘Ted Lasso’).

‘Shrinking’ follows a grieving therapist (Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives… including his own.

Ford takes on the role of Dr. Phil Rhodes, a down-to-earth, sharp as a tack “blue-collar shrink,” blunt but with an ever-present twinkle. Phil is a pioneer in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy who has built a successful practice over the years that he shares with his two young proteges, Jimmy and Gaby. Fiercely independent, Phil has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, which forces him out of his comfort zone as he grapples with intrusive friends, his estranged family and his legacy.

This is really the first proper TV role for Ford, although he has occasionally popped up on the small screen before. He played the old version of Indy in ‘The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles’, and also appeared in the infamous ‘Star Wars Holiday Special’, along with some appearing in a few tv movies and guest spots. He’s next back on the big screen in ‘Indiana Jones 5’ which is due to be released next year.

‘Shrinking’ is produced by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence is under an overall deal, and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Segel, Lawrence and Goldstein all serve as writers and executive producers, Jeff Ingold is an executive producer, and Liza Katzer is a co-executive producer.

Shrinking‘ does not yet have a premiere date, but if you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
