‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Gets Full Trailer, Coming To Cinemas July 2022

by Dave Elliott

The full trailer has landed for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, the fourth solo (or solo-ish in this case!) outing for Chris Hemsworth’s Marvel hero, but he’s bringing along a number of familiar faces too!

Directed once again by the brilliant (and Oscar-winning!) Taika Waititi, ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ sees our titular character on a quest for inner peace… Unfortunately, that peace is shattered by the rise in power of Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who, as his name rather suggests, is out to butcher all other gods, thus ruining Thor’s retirement plans.

To help battle the new threat, Thor enlists some friends in the form of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Korg (Taika Waititi). We also know the Guardians Of The Galaxy make an appearance, which makes sense as the Norse God hitched a ride with the group at the conclusion of Endgame.

However, this trailer also gives us a much better look at the return of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, astrophysicist and Thor’s ex-girlfriend… She has now taken up the mantle of Mighty Thor, and is wielding a reconstructed Mjolnir. That does rather imply this is “our” Jane Foster, not a multiverse version, but the trailer does not give away how she got these new powers. Together, this group set off on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Other cast includes Jaimie Alexander (Sif), Sean Gunn (Kraglin) and Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster) reprising their MCU roles. Interestingly, Matt Damon, Sam Neill, and Luke Hemsworth are also reprising their (tiny) roles as the Asgardian actors. Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone, Jenny Morris and Simon Russell Beale are also set to appear in undisclosed roles. Russell Crowe is also set for an appearance, which you can see in the trailer, as Zeus.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is based on the critically-acclaimed comic book “The Mighty Thor”, written by Jason Aaron. Waititi and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson developed the film script, with Waititi directing. Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum produce the movie from Marvel Studios.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ comes to cinemas across the UK and USA from Friday, 8th July 2022.
