‘The Boys’ Renewed For Season 4 At Prime Video

As the fourth episode of The Boys dropped today (eventually…) on Prime Video, the streaming service has announced the comic book drama will return for Season 4!

‘The Boys’ is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes—who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods—abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. Intent on stopping the corrupt superheroes, The Boys, a group of vigilantes, continue their heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought—the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. It’s the seemingly powerless against the super-powerful.

The renewal doesn’t come as a huge surprise given how well the show has been going down with audiences. The first three episodes of Season Three last Friday (3rd June), and over the first three days after it dropped, the worldwide audience for ‘The Boys’ has grown by +17% from season two, and +234% from season one.

“From our first conversation with Eric Kripke and the creative team about Season Three of The Boys, we knew the show was continuing to get even bolder – an impressive feat considering the wild success of the Emmy-nominated second season,” said Vernon Sanders, head of global television, Amazon Studios. “The Boys continues to push boundaries in storytelling while also being relentlessly entertaining and threading the needle on social satire that feels all too real. This stylized world of the series has incredible global reach and the viewership for opening weekend is proof of that. We are immensely proud of the cast and crew that has spawned a franchise for Prime Video, and we look forward to bringing more of The Boys to our customers.”

Season Three of The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Jensen Ackles.

“Speaking for the cast and crew, we’re so grateful to Sony, Amazon, and most of all the fans for embracing the show and allowing us to make more,” adds Eric Kripke, The Boys showrunner. “We’re thrilled to continue Butcher and the Boys’ fight against Homelander and the Seven, as well as comment on the insane world we’re living in. Also, this is the first time in history that exploding genitalia has led to further success.”

In addition to the main show, ‘The Boys’ franchise also now includes an eight-episode anthology animated series, ‘The Boys Presents: Diabolical’, now streaming on Prime Video, as well as the Untitled Boys Spinoff, set at America’s only college exclusively for young-adult superheroes, which is currently in production.

The Boys is based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who also serve as executive producers, and developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Craig Rosenberg, Ken F. Levin, Jason Netter, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Meredith Glynn, and Michaela Starr also serve as executive producers. The Boys is produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios, with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.

The first 4 episodes of ‘The Boys‘ Seasons 3 can be watched on Prime Video right now, will new episodes dropping every Friday. (Side note – Episode 4 took rather a long time to land this morning, but it was due to technical issues which have now been resolved, not intentional!)
