‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Renewed For Season 2 At Netflix
‘The Lincoln Lawyer‘ will be back for more legal drama, as Netflix announces the series will return for Season 2.
When his former law partner is killed, Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) is left to take over the firm, including a high-profile murder trial. With the biggest case he’s ever had to tackle out of the back seat of his Lincoln Town Car, Mickey discovers there may be more at stake than he thought.
Based on Michael Connelly’s series of bestselling novels, from ‘Big Little Lies’ creator David E. Kelley, the series is adapted to serve up the complex and mysterious arcs fans know and love with a mix of light-hearted humour and a dose of family dynamics.
Alongside Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (‘The Magnificent Seven’, ‘6 Underground’, ‘Goliath’), the series stars Becki Newton (‘How I Met Your Mother’, ‘Ugly Betty’) as Lorna, and Neve Campbell (‘Scream’ movies, ‘House of Cards’) as Maggie, Mickey’s two ex-wives. Krista Warner plays Hayley, his daughter with Maggie.
They are joined by Jazz Raycole (‘Council of Dads’), Angus Sampson (‘No Activity’, ‘Our Flag Means Death’), Christopher Gorham (‘Ugly Betty’, ‘2 Broke Girls’), Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (‘The Chi’), Michael Graziadei (‘True Detective’, ‘The Young and the Restless’), and Jamie McShane (‘CSI: Vegas’, ‘SEAL Team’, ‘Star Trek: Picard’).
The Nielsen numbers (the US company which tracks tv viewing figures) are quite interesting for ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ season one. It landed second place in the number of minutes streamed in its opening week across the streaming original series Nielsen track, which is nothing to complain about. However, the drama is also reaching an older audience than usual for a streaming show, with two-thirds of viewers aged 50-plus, possibly adding to its attractiveness for renewal.
David E. Kelley (‘Big Little Lies’, ‘Goliath’) series as writer/exec producer, alongside Ted Humphrey (‘The Good Wife’, ‘Wisdom of the Crowd’) as showrunner/exec producer/writer, and Ross Fineman (‘Goliath’, ‘Big Sky’) as exec producer. For season two, Dailyn Rodriguez (‘Queen of the South’) joins Humphrey as co-showrunner. A+E serves as the studio.
