‘The Morning Show’: Jon Hamm, Tig Notaro & Nicole Beharie Join Season 3 On Apple TV+
Over the past couple of weeks, Apple TV+’s Emmy Award-winning, critically acclaimed series ‘The Morning Show‘ has been steadily adding cast for Season 3, with Tig Notaro the latest name to join Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, alongside other new recruits, Jon Hamm and Nicole Beharie.
The series is an unapologetically candid drama that looks at the modern workplace through the lens of the people who help wake America up. The drama pulls back the curtain on early morning TV.
Season one of ‘The Morning Show’ followed the free fall of an early morning newscast in the wake of a scandal, and its struggle to survive in an era when news arrives in the palm of your hand. The second season found ‘The Morning Show’ team emerging from the wreckage of Alex (Aniston) and Bradley’s (Witherspoon) actions to a new UBA and a world in flux, where identity is everything and the chasm between who we present as and who we are, really come into play.
Jon Hamm joins as “Paul Marks”, a corporate titan who sets his sights on UBA, pulling Cory (Billy Crudup), Alex and Bradley into his powerful orbit. Tig Notaro is set to play “Amanda Robinson”, the chief of staff to the aforementioned corporate titan.
Nicole Beharie will star as “Christina Hunter”, a grounded, competitive, and charismatic Millennial who is a new anchor on The Morning Show. Christina works hard, plays hard, and navigates the Teacup with good-humoured irreverence.
Jon Hamm is, of course, probably best known as the star of ‘Mad Men’, and more recently played Gabriel in ‘Good Omens’ for Prime Video. On the big screen, he appeared as Adm. Beau “Cyclone” Simpson in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, and can next be seen as the titular Irwin M. ‘Fletch’ Fletcher in ‘Confess, Fletch’.
Tig Notaro has recently been starring as Jett Reno in ‘Star Trek: Discovery’, and previously worked on shows and films such as ‘Transparent’, ‘Army of the Dead’, and ‘One Mississippi’. An accomplished stand-up comedian, she earned an Emmy nomination for her special ‘Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted’.
Nicole Beharie is probably best known to our audience for her lead role in supernatural drama ‘Sleepy Hollow’ opposite Tom Mison. She also appeared in the ‘Black Mirror’ episode “Striking Vipers”, and the mini-series ‘Scenes from a Marriage’. On the big screen, she recently appeared in the film ‘Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul’ with Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown.
These three join the cast of Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, Janina Gavankar, Tom Irwin and Marcia Gay Harden. Julianna Margulies also returns reprising her role as “Laura Peterson”.
Season three of ‘The Morning Show’ will be showrun and executive produced by Charlotte Stoudt (‘Fosse/Verdon’, ‘Homeland’, ‘House of Cards’), who has a multi-year overall deal with Apple TV+ for scripted television series. The series is executive produced by Michael Ellenberg through Media Res, along with Aniston and Kristin Hahn through Echo Films; Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter through Hello Sunshine. Leder serves as executive producer and director.
