‘Heartstopper’ Adds More Cast As Season 2 Enters Production For Netflix

by Dave Elliott

Netflix’s breakout hit Heartstopper has just started production on Season 2, and the streaming service has announced some new faces who will be joining the cast.

‘Heartstopper’ follows gentle Charlie and rugby-loving Nick who meet at secondary school, and quickly discover that their unlikely friendship is blossoming into an unexpected romance. Charlie, Nick and their circle of friends must navigate the ever-relatable journey of self-discovery and acceptance, supporting each other as they learn to find their most authentic selves.

Kit Connor returns to the role of Nick Nelson and Joe Locke reprises his role as Charlie Spring, alongside the other returning cast of Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Sebastian Croft, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood and Jenny Walser.

The new faces joining the gang are Leila Khan who stars as Higgs student Sahar Zahid, Jack Barton as Nick’s older brother David Nelson, and Nima Taleghani as Truham teacher Mr. Farouk, alongside Bradley Riches (who played a student in Season 1) who will return as Truham student James McEwan.

Based on Alice Oseman’s best-selling graphic novels of the same name, ‘Heartstopper’ was renewed back in May for two more seasons, meaning a third season will be on the way after this. Author of the original graphic novels, Alice Oseman, serves as writer and creator on the series. Euros Lyn (‘Sherlock’, ‘Doctor Who’) is the director. The drama is produced by See-Saw Films for Netflix, with Patrick Walters as exec producer.

‘Heartstopper’ has not only been a massive hit for Netflix, landing a 100% Critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is “certified fresh”, but also had a huge effect on the original books and the talent. Since the launch of the series on Netflix, the Heartstopper weekly book sales in the US have increased 1700%, and Volume 1 is currently the number one YA fiction book in the US and featured on the NYT bestseller list. Talent Instagram followings have exploded with Kit Connor at 3.4M and Joe Locke at 2.5M, both had just over 100K followers a month prior to launch, and on TikTok, #heartstopper has now amassed over 4.3B views.

‘Heartstopper‘ Season 1 is available on Netflix UK and worldwide right now. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
