‘We Are Not Alone’: UKTV’s Dave Releases “First Look” Image Of Sci-Fi Comedy Special From ‘Ghosts’ Creators
UKTV’s Dave channel has released a “first look” image of ‘We Are Not Alone‘, a new original comedy special coming to the broadcaster this November from some of the team behind ‘Ghosts’.
Set six weeks after the Gu’un aliens have invaded and completely conquered Earth, ‘We Are Not Alone’ explores the culture clash between humankind and its new masters, who are trying to make sense of a planet so confusing and idiotic that its inhabitants can’t even agree which side of the road to drive on.
The special stars Declan Baxter (‘Jerk’, ‘There She Goes’) as Stewart, the Gu’un’s official hapless human liaison who ends up saddled with alien Greggs (Joe Thomas – ‘The Inbetweeners’) for a housemate. Stewart must help the Gu’uns deliver their message to the masses and win favour with humankind, while also aiding the human resistance and managing his enduring crush on Elodie (Georgia May Foote – ‘Coronation Street’).
Other cast includes Vicki Pepperdine (‘Worzel Gummidge’), Amanda Abbington (‘Sherlock’), Mike Wozniak (‘Man Down’), Evelyn Mok (‘I Hate Suzie’), Bruce Mackinnon (‘Episodes’), Lucien Leon Laviscount (‘Snatch’), Laurence Rickard (‘Ghosts’), Ben Willbond (‘Ghosts’), Dane Baptiste (‘Sunny D’), Rob Delaney (‘Catastrophe’), Ellie White (‘The Other One’) and Miles Jupp (‘Rev’).
‘We Are Not Alone’ is written by Larry Rickard & Ben Willbond, two of the team behind shows such as ‘Ghosts’, ‘Yonderland’ and ‘Bill’. The special was commissioned for UKTV by Pete Thornton, head of scripted, and ordered by Cherie Cunningham, Dave channel director. Richard Watsham is director of commissioning for UKTV and Steve North is genre general manager, comedy and entertainment. ‘We Are Not Alone’ is directed by Fergal Costello (‘Brain In Gear’) and produced by Philip Leach (‘The Bay’). Executive producers for Big Talk are Kenton Allen, Matthew Justice and Victoria Grew.
