Marvel has released the first look at Phase 5, as they drop a trailer for ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’, coming to cinemas in February 2023.
We return to find Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is going about his day as he muses about how an ex-con has become an Avenger. He’s even getting recognised in the street… well, sort of… Following the events of Endgame, he has been working with his now grown-up daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) to find a way to help people, which involves a device which communicates with the Quantum Realm. However, when showing off this device to Hope/Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) and her parents, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the whole group gets pulled into the Quantum Realm… Then things get really weird…
It turns out there the Quantum Realm is more than just psychedelic patterns and shapes. There is a whole society down there. The family finds themselves exploring this world, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.
Along with the returning cast mentioned above, the film introduces us to the new “big bad”, Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors. Those of you who have seen ‘Loki’ will know that we have already seen a variant of Kang, but this new version would seem to be one that is set to terrorise the MCU heroes over the next few phases.
Other announced cast includes Randall Park as lovable FBI officer Jimmy Woo; Gregg Turkington as Dale, the manager of a Baskin-Robbins; And Bill Murray in an undisclosed role, although we do get a glimpse of him in the trailer.
Peyton Reed returns as director, with Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard producing. The movie kicks off Phase 5 of the MCU alongside the tv series ‘Secret Invasion‘ and season two of ‘What If..?‘, both of which are due to land in Early 2023.
‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’ will premiere in cinemas from Friday, 17th February 2023.
