Meryl Streep Joins ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 3
The joyously fun ‘Only Murders in the Building‘ has a new, and very familiar face joining the cast for Season 3… The legendary Meryl Streep!
From the minds of Steve Martin, Dan Fogelman (‘This Is Us’) and John Hoffman (‘Grace and Frankie’) the series follows three strangers (Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one. When a grisly death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder and employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth.
The casting of Streep in the series was confirmed by an entertaining little video posted on social media featuring Martin, Short and Gomez, alongside returning guest stars Paul Rudd and Andrea Martin, with the lady herself popping up (quite literally!) at the end.

We don’t yet know who Streep will be playing in the third season, so whether it is a character or a twisted version of herself (as happened in previous seasons with both Sting and Amy Schumer) remains to be seen. Rudd was introduced at the end of season two playing Ben Glenroy, a renowned theatre actor and star of Oliver’s new play… who promptly drops dead, setting up the new season. However, before that, he was warned by Charles to “stay away from her…”, referring to one of Ben’s co-stars, with which Ben had been having issues. Could Steep be the “her” to which he was referring?
In addition to Streep, another new face for season three will be Jesse Williams (‘Grey’s Anatomy’) had been added to Season 3 in the recurring role of a documentarian who takes an interest in Charles, Oliver and Mabel’s latest investigation.
Co-created and written by Martin and John Hoffman based on an idea by Martin, the series is produced by 20th Television. Martin and John Hoffman exec produce along with Short, Gomez, Jamie Babbitt, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.
‘Only Murders In The Building‘ Seasons 1 & 2 can be found on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the USA. Season 3 is currently filming, and is expected to be released later in 2023.
