‘Will Trent’ Renewed For Season 2
‘Will Trent‘ will return, as ABC announces they have ordered Season 2 of the Ramón Rodríguez fronted drama.
Based on Karin Slaughter’s New York Times bestselling “Will Trent” series, Special Agent Will Trent (Rodríguez) of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. But now, determined to use his unique point of view to make sure no one is abandoned like he was, Will Trent has the highest clearance rate in the GBI.
The show, which began airing on ABC in January in the US, and recently on Disney+ in the UK, has been a definite hit for the US network. It is their No. 1 new drama this season and has been smashing the ratings for its 10pm Tuesday night timeslot, which had been a troublesome space to fill for ABC.
ABC still has quite a number of shows left on its renewal/cancel sheet. ‘The Good Doctor‘, ‘Station 19’, and ‘The Conners’ are all expected to get renewed, but there are cast contracts to figure out before they do, which is why they’re taking longer. ‘Not Dead Yet’, ‘The Rookie: Feds’ and ‘The Company You Keep’ are also still up in the air, but seem to be heading more towards the renewal column. Things are looking much less safe for ‘Home Economics’, ‘Big Sky’, and ‘Alaska Daily’… We should get most of these renewals or cancellations confirmed by late April/early May as we head into “Upfronts” in mid-May where the US networks present their next season line-up to advertisers.
