‘The Good Doctor’ Renewed For 7th Season
‘The Good Doctor‘ will be back, along with the rest of the staff of St. Bonaventure’s, as ABC announces the medical drama will return for a 7th Season on the US network.
‘The Good Doctor’ follows Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), a surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, who continues to use his extraordinary medical gifts at St. Bonaventure Hospital’s surgical unit. Alongside Highmore, the series stars Hill Harper as Dr. Marcus Andrews, Richard Schiff as Dr. Aaron Glassman, Christina Chang as Dr. Audrey Lim, Fiona Gubelmann as Dr. Morgan Reznick, Will Yun Lee as Dr. Alex Park, Paige Spara as Lea Dilallo, Noah Galvin as Dr. Asher Wolke and Bria Samone Henderson as Dr. Jordan Allen.
The medical drama is still doing well for ABC, despite its age. Whilst its season six numbers are down from season five, it is still second in audience numbers for drama on the network, only behind ‘The Rookie’. It is also tied for the number one entertainment show in its Monday night timeslot across all networks, alongside the NBC series ‘Quantum Leap’.
This sixth season included a “backdoor pilot” for a possible spin-off series titled ‘The Good Lawyer’. The potential drama comes from David Shore and Liz Friedman, EPs on the main series, and centres on Joni (Kennedy McMann), a 20-something woman who battles OCD but is a brilliant lawyer. Conversations are still ongoing as to whether that will move into a full series, but the noises so far from ABC seem to imply it is moving in the right direction for a pick-up.

Moran, David Hoselton, Peter Blake, Jessica Grasl, Garrett Lerner, Mike Listo, Freddie Highmore, Shawn Williamson, David Kim and Sebastian Lee.
