‘Heartstopper’: Season 2 Of Hit Series Gets August Premiere Date On Netflix

Charlie & Nick are back at Truham Grammar School for Boys

by Dave Elliott

Beloved Netflix series Heartstopper is back for Season 2 this August on the streaming service, and as a little treat, they have released a behind-the-scenes video of what to expect when it returns.

The series follows the old tale – Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love. When gentle Charlie and rugby-loving Nick meet at secondary school, they quickly discover that their unlikely friendship is blossoming into an unexpected romance. Charlie, Nick and their circle of friends must navigate the ever-relatable journey of self-discovery and acceptance, supporting each other as they learn to find their most authentic selves.

As we return for season two, Nick and Charlie navigate their new relationship, whilst Tara (Corinna Brown) and Darcy (Kizzy Edgell) face unforeseen challenges and Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney) work out if they can ever be more than just friends. With exams on the horizon, a school trip to Paris and a prom to plan, the gang has a lot to juggle as they journey through the next stages of life, love and friendship.

The series stars Kit Connor, Joe Locke, Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Sebastian Croft, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood, Jenny Walser, Cormac Hyde-Corrin and Olivia Colman. New faces joining the gang are Leila Khan who stars as Higgs student Sahar Zahid, Jack Barton as Nick’s older brother David Nelson, and Nima Taleghani as Truham teacher Mr. Farouk, alongside Bradley Riches (who played a student in Season 1) who will return as Truham student James McEwan.

Based on Alice Oseman’s best-selling graphic novels of the same name, ‘Heartstopper’ was renewed last year for two more seasons, meaning a third season will be on the way after this. This second season is based on book three of the graphic novels, although has been somewhat expanded by Oseman due to the book being too short to fill out an entire season.

Author of the original graphic novels, Alice Oseman, serves as writer and creator on the series. Euros Lyn (‘Sherlock’, ‘Doctor Who’) is the director. The drama is produced by See-Saw Films for Netflix, with Patrick Walters as exec producer.

Heartstopper‘ Season 2 premieres Thursday, 3rd August 2023 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
