The CW Developing ‘The Librarians: The Next Chapter’ Spin-Off Series
US network The CW has put into development ‘The Librarians: The Next Chapter‘, a brand-new spinoff of the wildly successful fantasy adventure series ‘The Librarians’ from writer and executive producer Dean Devlin (‘Leverage’, ‘Independence Day’).
The new series will follow a Librarian from the past, who time travelled to the present, and now finds himself stuck here. When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent. He is given a new team to help him clean up the mess he made, forming a new team of Librarians.
At the moment it isn’t clear if any of the original show cast, which featured Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Harlan Kim, John Larroquette, and Noah Wyle, will have any involvement with the new show. However, CW entertainment president, Brad Schwartz, has said they are approaching a number of the former stars in the hopes that at least one to at least cameo on the series to pass on the baton.
The former cast have been keeping themselves busy in the five years since the original series was cancelled. Rebecca Romijn is currently beaming around the galaxy on ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’, whilst Christian Kane and Noah Wyle are both on Dean Devlin’s other revival series, ‘Leverage: Redemption’. John Larroquette is on NBC’s ‘Night Court’ revival, whilst John Harlan Kim was on the Apple mini-series ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’, and Lindy Booth popped up in guest roles on both ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ and ‘The Flash’.
The new series is produced by Devlin’s Electric Entertainment and The CW. Devlin serves as executive producer and showrunner along with executive producers Rachel Olschan-Wilson and Marc Roskin. Jonathan English of Balkanic Media serves as the producer.
