TV Premiere Highlights Coming To Disney+ UK In July 2023

Summer is in full swing on Disney+, and July brings the highly anticipated return of the critically-acclaimed smash-hit series FX’s ‘The Bear’, alongside a host of other new content. These include the hilarious new reality series ‘Drag Me to Dinner’ hosted but the wonderful Neil Patrick Harris, who also recently popped up in the spin-off to his old show, ‘How I Met Your Father’, which is also back for more episodes. Here are all the highlights from Disney+ UK in July 2023.

Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire, Season 1 – 5th July 2023 (Series)

This action-packed animated sci-fi anthology presents 10 futuristic visions from Africa inspired by the continent’s diverse histories and cultures. Executive produced by OSCAR-winning director Peter Ramsey, these short films, made by a new generation of animation directors, draw on uniquely African perspectives to imagine brave new worlds of advanced technology, aliens, spirits, and monsters. This is Africa as you’ve never seen it before.

The Watchful Eye, Season 1 – 5th July 2023 (Series)

Elena Santos, a young woman with a complicated past, manoeuvres her way into working as a live-in nanny for an affluent family in Manhattan. She quickly learns that everyone in the mysterious building has deadly secrets and ulterior motives. What they don’t know, however, is that Elena has some shocking secrets of her own.

UPDATE: The Watchful Eye is cancelled, but the single season was going to air on Disney+ UK… Then they decided to throw the show into a tax write-off black hole…

Bleach: A Thousand-Year Blood War, Season 2 – 8th July 2023 (Series)

The peace is suddenly broken when warning sirens blare through the Soul Society. Residents are disappearing without a trace and nobody knows who’s behind it. Meanwhile, a darkness is approaching Ichigo and his friends in Karakura Town.

Miraculous: Tales Of Ladybug & Cat Noir, Season 5 – 12th July 2023 (Series)

Normal high school kids by day, protectors of Paris by night! Miraculous follows the heroic adventures of Marinette and Adrien as they transform into Ladybug and Cat Noir and set out to capture akumas, creatures responsible for turning the people of Paris into villains. But neither hero knows the other’s true identity – or that they’re classmates!

The Company You Keep, Season 1 – 12th July 2023 (Series)

A night of passion leads to love between con man Charlie and undercover CIA officer Emma, who are unknowingly on a collision course professionally. While Charlie ramps up the “family business” so he can get out for good, Emma’s closing in on the vengeful criminal who holds Charlie’s family debts in hand – forcing them to reckon with the lies they’ve told so they can save themselves and their families from disastrous consequences. ‘The Company You Keep’ stars Milo Ventimiglia as Charlie, Catherine Haena Kim as Emma, William Fichtner as Leo, Tim Chiou as David, Freda Foh Shen as Grace, James Saito as Joseph, Sarah Wayne Callies as Birdie, Felisha Terrell as Daphne and Polly Draper as Fran. NOTE – Cancelled after one season.

FX’s The Secrets Of Hillsong – 12th July 2023 (DocuSeries)

FX’s The Secrets of Hillsong is a four-part documentary series, based on the explosive original reporting on the megachurch’s scandals by Vanity Fair journalists Alex French and Dan Adler. The series features the first interviews with two former pastors, Carl and Laura Lentz, since their public ousting from the church — which for years counted musicians, actors, athletes and other celebrities among its flock. The documentary also features poignant conversations with many of the congregants navigating the still-unfolding global reckoning, with the church facing further revelations. Featuring fresh reporting and analysis from journalists, historians and policymakers, the series goes beyond the sensational headlines and behind the velvet rope to examine the church’s long pattern of covering up misconduct to protect itself.

FX’s The Bear, Season 2- 19th July 2023 (Series)

FX’s critically acclaimed original series The Bear is about food, family, the insanity of the grind, the beauty of Sense of Urgency and the steep slippery downsides. As young chef Carmy and crew work to transform their grimy sandwich shop into a next-level spot, they undertake transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future.

FX’s Dave, Season 3 – 19th July 2023 (Series)

‘Dave’ centres on a neurotic man in his late 20s who has convinced himself that he’s destined to be one of the best rappers of all time. Now he must convince his closest friends because, with their help, he actually might convince the world. Simultaneously exasperating and inspiring to his friends, he vows to leave no stone unturned on his quest to become the next superstar. The half-hour comedy is based on the life of rapper and comedian Dave Burd, better known by his stage name Lil Dicky.

Drag Me To Dinner, Season 1- 26th July 2023 (Series)

If you want a great party, hire a party planner. If you want an outrageous, unforgettable party … call in a Drag Queen. Drag Me to Dinner is the new close-ended comedic competition that, unlike other Drag competitions, doesn’t take itself too seriously. In each hour-long episode, two new pairs of Queens go wig-to-wig in themed culinary and design challenges, attempting to throw the most fabulous dinner party yet.

How I Met Your Father, Season 2, Part 2 – 26th July 2023 (Series)

In the near future, Sophie is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the present where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

Other Notable Additions

Outside of the various premieres above, there is also the acclaimed movie ‘The Hate U Give’ landing on the 7th July 2023, and both seasons of ‘Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger’, which premieres on the 12th July 2023, having previously been broadcast on Prime Video in the UK.

Looking further into the future, Disney+ UK has revealed in this update that Welcome To Wrexham Season 2 will land at some point in 2023, along with High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 3, and ‘Epic Adventures With Bertie Gregory’, Season 2, although have not given exact dates for these.
