Paramount+ UK & Ireland has announced the acclaimed drama Billions will return this August for its 7th and final season… And no, your eyes do not deceive you, that is Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Damian Lewis) in the photo, alongside Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll and Maggie Siff.

As we head into Season 7, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.

“Billions has deftly explored power, money and greed in a way that not only made it a massive hit, but also defined its own genre thanks to the creative brain trust of Brian and David,” said Chris McCarthy, President & CEO, SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks. “This final season is packed full of the incredible, complex dialogue and character dynamics fans have come to love, and we are thrilled to partner with them on turning this hit series into a global franchise.”

This announcement does mark the official confirmation from Paramount that season seven will be the last, although, the news was accidentally leaked by Dan Soder (in something which you could totally see his character “Mafee” doing…) during an interview a few months ago. However, with the main show ending, the brand is going nowhere, as Paramount/Showtime are in the process of expanding ‘Billions’ into a larger franchise, with several potential new shows.

The potential spin-offs in development include ‘Billions: Miami’, set in the world of private aviation, where the clientele believe the rules of society, government and gravity don’t apply to them, amidst the wealth, nightlife, contraband and the cryptocurrency that pulses through that city; ‘Billions: London’, operating in the world of UK finance; ‘Millions’, featuring diverse, thirtysomething, financial mogul wannabes doing whatever it takes to make it in Manhattan; And ‘Trillions’, based on fictional stories of the richest people in the world – titans of industry living all over the country but coming into contact and conflict with one another. None of these have yet been officially ordered to series, so we don’t know which may or may not happen. All of them are executive produced by ‘Billions’ showrunners Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who have established their own acclaimed brand of propulsive storytelling and articulately incorrigible characters. Paul Schiff will also executive produce the new projects in the franchise.

‘Billions’ stars Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll and Maggie Siff, alongside David Costabile, Asia Kate Dillon, Dola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sakina Jaffrey, Daniel Breaker and Toney Goins. The 12-episode final season also marks the return of Emmy winner Damian Lewis as fan-favourite Bobby “Axe” Axelrod.

The drama is created and executive produced by showrunners Koppelman and Levien (Rounders). Beth Schacter also serves as showrunner and executive producer. The series was also created by Andrew Ross Sorkin. All previous seasons of ‘Billions’ are available for subscribers on Paramount+.

UK Premiere Date: ‘Billions‘ Season 7 premieres Saturday, 12th August 2023 on Paramount+ UK and Ireland.

USA Premiere Date: The series premieres Friday, August 11th, 2023, on Paramount+ in the USA, and will then air Sunday, August 13, on Showtime at 8pm.
