BBC Picks Up ‘The Traitors Australia’ For BBC Three & iPlayer

The BBC has picked up another variant of the worldwide psychological TV phenomenon, as they announce The Traitors Australia will air on BBC Three & iPlayer this July.

‘The Traitors Australia’ has been acquired by the BBC and is another series of the deliciously dangerous game that will this time see a group of contestants arrive at a historic luxury hotel in the Southern Highlands as Faithful contestants – hoping to share a prize fund worth up to A$250,000. Amongst them are the Traitors – a group of four contestants selected by host Rodger Corser on the first day, whose goal is to eliminate the Faithfuls and claim the prize for themselves.

For those who are new to The Traitors, it is a psychological reality game show centred around tactics, betrayal, suspicion and manipulation. Should the Faithful contestants eliminate all the Traitors, they will share the prize fund. If a Traitor makes it to the end, they steal the money.

“The Traitors is an addictively fiendish format and I am so pleased that viewers can get their summer fix of treachery and suspicion as we head Down Under for the Australian version of the show on BBC Three and iPlayer,” said Nasfim Haque, Head of Content at BBC Three.

Welcome to a most deliciously, dangerous game of lies, deception and betrayal. Do the Faithfuls have what it takes, to eliminate the Traitors? Or will the skulduggery of the Traitors see the Faithfuls eliminate one of their own?

‘The Traitors Australia’ is the third version of the series available to BBC viewers, following the double-BAFTA award-winning and critically acclaimed first UK series of The Traitors produced by Studio Lambert and hosted by Claudia Winkleman and The Traitors US, both of which are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

Originally conceived in the Netherlands by IDTV, an All3Media company, the format was further developed with the RTL Creative Unit and produced by IDTV. The shows were licensed through All3Media International.

For those that think they have what it takes to play, applications are still open for the second series of the UK version of The Traitors. Visit BBC Shows, Tours & Take Part to find out more.

The Traitors Australia‘ will premiere on BBC Three at 8pm on Sunday 9th July 2023, and all 12 episodes will be available as a boxset on BBC iPlayer at 6am the same day.
