Prime Video has announced the brilliant animated series Invincible will return this November for Season 2 and released a trailer… But also, as a special treat for fans who have been patiently waiting, has dropped a standalone special episode, ‘Invincible: Atom Eve’, today on the streaming service!

Based on the groundbreaking comic book by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, ‘Invincible’ revolves around 18-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who’s just like every other guy his age – except his father, Omni-Man (J. K. Simmon), is (or was) the most powerful superhero on the planet.

Still reeling from Nolan’s betrayal in Season 1, Mark struggles to rebuild his life as he faces a host of new threats, all while battling his greatest fear – that he might become his father without even knowing it.

Steven Yeun leads the voice cast, alongside a smorgasbord of talent including Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Grey DeLisle, Chris Diamantopoulos, Walton Goggins, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Mantzoukas, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, Kevin Michael Richardson, Seth Rogen, and J.K. Simmons.

Joining the Season 2 cast are Sterling K. Brown, Peter Cullen, Rob Delaney, Calista Flockhart, Phil LaMarr, Luke MacFarlane, Tatiana Maslany, Scott McNairy, Jay Pharoah, Ella Purnell, Tim Robinson, Ben Schwartz, Rhea Seehorn, Lea Thompson, Paul F. Tompkins, Shantel VanSanten, and more. The executive producers are Kirkman, Catherine Winder, David Alpert, Simon Racioppa, Margaret M. Dean, Rogen, and Evan Goldberg, and the co-executive producers are Helen Leigh and Walker.

‘Invincible’ was renewed for Season 3 alongside the 2nd Season renewal, presumably to cut down the gap between animating the seasons (Season 1 aired in March 2021, so it’s been a while!)

To whet your appetite for season two, Prime has today released a special prequel episode, ‘Invincible: Atom Eve’. This one-off follows Samantha Eve Wilkins, aka Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs), who grows up out of place in her own family. When someone from her past re-enters her life, she discovers her tragic backstory and the origin and true potential of her powers.

Simon Racioppa (‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’) is showrunner and exec produces the series alongside Kirkman, David Alpert and Catherine Winder, with supervising directors Justin & Chris Copeland (‘Avengers Assemble’, ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’). Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment produces the show alongside Point Grey Pictures.

Invincible‘ Season 2 premieres Friday, 3rd November 2023 on Prime Video UK and worldwide.
