‘The Great British Bake Off’ Season 14 Gets September Premiere Date On Channel 4
National institution, ‘The Great British Bake Off‘ is back this September for Season 14, and sees new presenter Alison Hammond joins Noel Fielding to lead the latest batch of bakers through 30 brand new challenges set by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
The nation’s most famous tent is, once again, pitched in the grounds of Welford Park, as a new selection of budding bakers are put through their paces. Kicking off the series, the bakers have their first opportunity to impress the judges in Cake Week. In the signature challenge, they need to produce the perfect vertical layer cake. Next, under the fabled gingham cloth are the ingredients for the first technical, an iconic chocolate cake that should be very familiar. Finally, a sponge showstopper features a menagerie of animals, giving the bakers a chance to express their architectural skills. Twelve bakers. Three challenges. Who’ll be the first Star Baker and who’ll be the first to leave the tent?
Alison Hammond takes over hosting duties from Matt Lucas who left the series due to scheduling issues with his other projects. She previously appeared as a baker in 2020 for ‘Celebrity Bake Off’, but now gets to welcome the Class of ‘23 to the nation’s best-loved baking show from the other side of the counter.
The multi-award-winning show is created by Love Productions, a Sky Studios company. It was renewed under a three-year deal back in 2021, meaning the show will be on air until at least 2024. The deal also included the return of ‘Bake Off: An Extra Slice’, ‘Junior Bake Off’, ‘Bake Off: The Professionals’, ‘The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer’. It also is very likely to get renewed again next year, as its numbers still make it one of the highest-rated unscripted shows on UK TV (behind the juggernaut of BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.)
