BBC & Disney+ Sets UK & International Premiere Dates For ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Specials

BBC & Disney + Sets UK & International Premiere Dates For ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Specials

The BBC has announced the November UK premiere dates for the much-anticipated Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials, alongside Disney+ announcing the international premiere dates outside of the UK.

With David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor and Catherine Tate reprising her role as Donna Noble the popular duo will make their spectacular return to mark the show’s 60th anniversary with three special episodes running each Saturday from the 25th November.

The three epic adventures start with The Star Beast (25 November) where the Doctor and Donna will come face to face after all these years but just how, and why, is about to be revealed. That is followed by Wild Blue Yonder (2 December) and The Giggle (9 December), as viewers are about to go on an otherworldly adventure through space and time.

Joining David Tennant and Catherine Tate is a stellar cast including, Yasmin Finney as Rose Noble, Miriam Margolyes as the voice of the Meep, Jacqueline King as Sylvia Noble, Karl Collins as Shaun Temple, Ruth Madeley as Shirley Anne-Bingham, Jemma Redgrave as Kate Stewart and Neil Patrick Harris as the Toymaker, set to cause all kinds of mayhem. It will be an unmissable cosmic adventure, all before Ncuti Gatwa gets the keys to the TARDIS over the festive season.

If that isn’t enough, the first episode of ‘Doctor Who: Unleashed’ will follow The Star Beast on Saturday 25 November. After every new episode of ‘Doctor Who’, viewers can switch over to BBC Three or BBC iPlayer to watch the access all areas show which gives viewers an unmissable insight into the creation of ‘Doctor Who’.

The 60th Anniversary Specials kick off something of a new era for ‘Doctor Who’. Not only is it the return of Russell T Davies, who has taken back the keys to the TARDIS, but he is joined by Bad Wolf, the production company set up by former ‘Who’ execs Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter. These are also the first episodes shot under the new international broadcast deal which sees Disney+ screen the drama internationally outside of the UK and Ireland.

Doctor Who‘ returns on Saturday, 25th November 2023 with Tennant starring in the three specials to coincide with the 60th-anniversary which will premiere exclusively on BBC One and iPlayer for the UK, and the same date for Disney+ internationally. Ncuti Gatwa then takes over in Christmas 2023 as the Fifteenth Doctor.
