by Dave Elliott

The sequel film to ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ has landed a title and a trailer today, which sees the original Ghostbusters return alongside the kids and cast from the first movie.

Titled ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’, the movie sees the Spengler family return to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

The film sees Carrie Coon return as Egon Spengler’s daughter, Callie, alongside Egon’s grandkids, Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Trever (Finn Wolfhard). They are joined by Paul Rudd’s Gary Grooberson, along with the remaining original Ghostbusters Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stanz (Dan Aykroyd) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson).

The cast also includes Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, Celeste O’Connor, and Logan Kim, with original Ghostbusters actress Annie Potts reprising her role as Janine Melnitz.

From Sony Pictures Entertainment, the movie is written by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, who co-wrote ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ but this time Kenan takes over directing duties as well from Reitman. Reitman produces the film with Jason Blumenfield. Dan Aykroyd, JoAnn Perritano, Amie Karp, Eric Reich and Erica Mills exec produce.

‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ is set to land in cinemas from 29th March 2024.
