Channel 4 has released some “first look” photos for the multi-award-winning and six-time BAFTA-nominated comedy Big Boys Season 2, which returns in January 2024 to Channel 4.

‘Big Boys’ is a funny and heart-breaking comedy-drama created, written and narrated by Jack Rooke centring on an unlikely friendship between sweet, shy, newly-out Jack (Dylan Llewellyn – Derry Girls) and boisterous, laddish and ever-so-slightly mature student Danny (Jon Pointing – Plebs).

Season two takes the whole gang straight into the second year of Brent University 2014, where alongside dealing with virginity hang-ups, drug experimentation (both legal and otherwise) and Jack’s obsession with Alison Hammond, this time round their degrees actually count!

Meanwhile, Jack’s family continue to navigate their lives after his Dad’s passing, beginning just as much of a new chapter as the gang at university. And Danny gets to revisit his past as he learns how to better deal with his mental health issues.

“We are finally returning, to take you all back to the pre-Brexit era of 2014/2015, where David Cameron wasn’t our foreign secretary and everyone was happily doing the ice bucket challenge,” said Jack Rooke. “Second year at Brent Uni is bigger and better than before, delving into even more of our uni gangs japes, scrapes and collective love of her royal highness, Alison Hammond.”

Alongside Llewellyn and Pointing, season two also sees Camille Coduri, Katy Wix, Izuka Hoyle, Olisa Odele, Harriett Webb and Annette Badland all return to reprise their roles from season one.

The series is created and written by Rooke and produced by Roughcut TV (Stath Lets Flats, People Just Do Nothing). Jim Archer directs, and it is produced by Bertie Peek, executive produced by Ash Atalla and Alex Smith for Roughcut TV and commissioned for Channel 4 by Charlie Perkins, Head of Comedy and Joe Hullait, Commissioning Executive for Comedy.

“Big Boys is back for year 2 and time to get serious about studies, adds Ash Atalla, Managing Director, Roughcut TV. “No more drinking, partying or sex, this series is all set in the library where we follow our gang reading books. We hope you like our new direction.”

If you want to catch up, ‘Big Boys’ Season 1 is available to stream now on Channel 4.

Big Boys‘ Season 2 does not yet have an exact premiere date, but will air in January 2024 on Channel 4. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
