ITV has released some new images for mystery drama After The Flood starring Sophie Rundle, Nick Gleaves, Lorraine Ashbourne, Philip Glenister and Jacqueline Boatswain, which premieres this January on ITV1 & ITVX.

Sophie Rundle (Gentleman Jack, Peaky Blinders) stars as PC Joanna Marshall (pictured above) who is in the midst of a flood that devastates a Yorkshire town. When an unidentified man is found dead in a lift in an underground car park police assume he became trapped as the waters rose, and as the investigation unfolds, PC Marshall becomes obsessed with discovering what happened to him. How did he get in the lift and why does no one know who he is?

The images also give a peak at other leading cast in their roles including Nicholas Gleaves (The Crown, The Rising, Bodyguard) in police uniform as Jo’s boss and surrogate father figure, Sergent Phil Mackie, Philip Glenister (Belgravia, Life on Mars) as property developer Jack Radcliffe, Lorraine Ashbourne (Sherwood, Bridgerton) becomes Jo’s worrying mother Molly, and Jacqueline Boatswain (Carnival Row, Ridley) as local politician Sarah Mackie.

The mystery in After the Flood unfolds across the series while we also see the real impact of climate change on the lives of residents in this small town. The floods threaten to expose secrets, and fortunes and reputations are at stake. But how far will people go to protect themselves?

“These images perfectly set the significant tone for After the Flood,” said Rundle. “I know viewers will be both gripped and moved by the story we are telling. A story brought to life by the brilliantly talented team I am surrounded by, both on and off-screen.”

The series also stars Matt Stokoe (Cursed, Jamestown) as Jo’s husband, Pat, and Jonas Armstrong (The Bay, Floodlights) plays the seemingly heroic local man Lee.

The compelling drama is written by BAFTA-nominated writer and actor Mick Ford who is known for his work on Stay Close, Living the Dream and The Stranger. The drama comes from Quay Street Productions (Men Up, Nolly, Significant Other) and was commissioned by Polly Hill for ITV. Juliet Charlesworth (Stay Close, Brassic) is the producer and Azhur Saleem (Anansi Boys, Doctor Who) will direct and executive produce. Executive producers for Quay Street Productions are Nicola Shindler (Nolly, It’s A Sin) and Richard Fee (Stay Close, The Stranger). Huw Kennair-Jones for ITV and Reemah Sakaan and Stephen Nye for BritBox International. The series will air on ITV in the UK, and on BritBox in the US, Canada, Australia, South Africa and across Nordic markets.

After The Flood‘ premieres Wednesday, 10th January 2024 on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.
