Sky & NOW Set March Premiere Date For ‘SWAT’ Season 7

Back for one final outing

by Dave Elliott

Sky and streaming service NOW have set a March premiere date for the 7th and final season of procedural drama S.W.A.T.

Inspired by the television series and the feature film, S.W.A.T.’ stars Shemar Moore as a former Marine and locally born and raised S.W.A.T. sergeant, tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. Torn between loyalty to where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson strives to bridge the divide between his two worlds.

The new season begins with the first of a two-parter where Hondo, Hicks and Powell head to Mexico City to retrieve a fugitive who slipped from Hondo’s grasp 10 years ago. But when things go sideways, Hondo finds himself, once again, on the killer’s trail, desperate to fulfil a decade-old promise.

There have been a couple of changes in terms of the casting this season. Alongside Moore, Jay Harrington (David Kay), David Lim (Victor Tan), Patrick St. Esprit (Robert Hicks), and Rochelle Aytes (Nichelle Carmichael), return as series regulars. They are joined by Anna Enger Ritch (Zoe Powell) who has been upped to series regular from being a recurring role the last two seasons.

Interestingly, Alex Russell (Jim Street), and Kenny Johnson (Dominique Luca) have been switched to recurring roles from series regulars this season. However, the showrunner has promised, “There are some really good episodes for Alex and Kenny, for Street and Luca.” We just might be seeing a little less of them in this last 13-episode run.

‘S.W.A.T.’ is produced by Sony Pictures TV and CBS Studios. The drama was developed by Aaron Rahsaan Thomas and Shawn Ryan.

S.W.A.T.‘ Season 7 premieres Sunday, 24th March 2024 on Sky Max and streaming service NOW.
