The time has come for Dr Shaun Murphy to hang up his stethoscope as the 7th and final season of The Good Doctor premieres in the UK this April.

The medical drama stars Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, a surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, who uses his extraordinary medical gifts at St. Bonaventure Hospital’s surgical unit. Highmore and Richard Schiff, who plays Dr. Aaron Glassman, are the only two original cast members to make it into the final season.

Following their long-awaited wedding festivities and his promotion to surgical attending, season seven puts Shaun and Lea’s relationship immediately to the test and they must learn to navigate life together as a married couple. Meanwhile, the team is dealing with changes at the hospital and in their personal lives that will present new emotional and interpersonal challenges for them.

As the final series begins, Shaun and Lea adjust to parenthood as they debate the importance of schedule and routine for Steve, and Shaun takes on his first case back at the hospital with two baby patients in need of the same heart.

The season seven cast also includes Christina Chang (Dr. Audrey Lim), Fiona Gubelmann (Dr. Morgan Reznick), Will Yun Lee ( Dr. Alex Park), Noah Galvin (Dr. Asher Wolke), Bria Samone Henderson (Dr. Jordan Allen) and Chuku Modu (Dr. Jared Kalu). It’s likely a few older faces may pop back up for guest spots over the final few episodes too.

Based on a 2013 South Korean series of the same name, The Good Doctor is produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios. Daniel Dae Kim, Thomas L. Moran, David Hoselton, Peter Blake, Jessica Grasl, Garrett Lerner, Mike Listo, Shawn Williamson, David Kim and Sebastian Lee are also executive producers.

The Good Doctor‘ Season 7 premieres Wednesday, 10th April 2024 on Sky Witness and streaming service NOW in the UK.
