‘White Collar’ Revival/Reboot In Development By Original Creator With Original Cast

Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay and Tiffani Thiessen all set to reprise their roles

by Dave Elliott

Police procedural White Collar could be making a return to our screens as series creator Jeff Eastin reveals he’s writing a script for a revival/reboot of the show, with stars Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay and Tiffani Thiessen all set to reprise their roles.

For the uninitiated, ‘White Collar’ centres on the unlikely partnership between charming con artist Neal Caffrey (Bomer) and straightforward FBI agent Peter Burke (DeKay), who team up to catch other elusive white-collar criminals. The drama originally ran from 2009-2014 and ran for six seasons.

The reveal came during Variety’s TV Fest during a chat with creator Jeff Eastin, Bomer, DeKay and Thiessen. Eastin confirmed he’s “writing the script” for this new version of the show, with DeKay adding that “It’s a fantastic script and it answers all the questions that one would have if you watch the show, but it would introduce the show to those who haven’t seen it as well. Both edges of the sword are honed.” Hence it being both a revival and a reboot of sorts.

If you are a fan of the series, there is, of course, one name missing… Willie Garson. The beloved actor who played Mozzie tragically passed away in 2021 from pancreatic cancer. The revival will address that and pay tribute to the actor and character. “It honours Willie, too, in a profound way,” comments DeKay. “With such sensitivity and such heart,” adds Thiessen. “I told Jeff after I finished it, I literally was so excited, but at the same time had tears in my eyes — for good reason. You captured the suspense, the thrill, the characters and the love in that reboot.”

There is currently no network or streaming service attached to this new version of the series. However, it is owned and made by Disney’s 20th Television, so, if it does move forward, it is likely to end up on Hulu in the USA and Disney+ in the UK. We stress, this show is currently “in development” so may or may not move forward.

In the meantime, if you want to catch up on the previous six seasons of ‘White Collar‘, you can find them on Disney+ UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
