‘Bad Monkey’ Season 2 Trailer Brings Vince Vaughn Back For More Florida Crime, Chaos & Questionable Decisions

by Dave Elliott

Florida clearly isn’t getting any less weird! Apple TV has released the official trailer for ‘Bad Monkey‘ Season 2, bringing Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers) back as Andrew Yancy, the wisecracking former detective who just can’t seem to avoid murder, mayhem and Florida’s more eccentric residents. The crime comedy returns this December with a brand-new mystery, some familiar faces and a rather impressive collection of new troublemakers.

Developed by Bill Lawrence, the man behind ‘Ted Lasso’ and ‘Shrinking’, the series originally adapted Carl Hiaasen’s bestselling novel. However, rather than retreading the same material, Season 2 takes Yancy into an entirely original story, while keeping the wonderfully chaotic Florida setting and offbeat humour that made the first season so entertaining.

This time around, Yancy witnesses the murder of one of Florida’s most notorious fixers, which lands him in the middle of another investigation. An ambitious state attorney pairs him with a decidedly by-the-book forensic accountant, and before long, the unlikely duo find themselves caught in a turf war between rival criminal organisations.

Naturally, things only get more complicated from there. Yancy encounters an intellectual mob boss, his thoroughly unhinged son, and a young woman who desperately needs his protection. All while attempting to navigate a state where the criminals frequently seem to be the least strange people in the room.

Of course, the investigation isn’t Yancy’s only headache. He’s also dealing with his ageing father, continuing romantic complications with Dr Rosa Campesino, played by Natalie Martinez (Under the Dome), and an eccentric animal relocation specialist whose business is causing some serious environmental problems. Meanwhile, Rosa has her own mystery to unravel involving a particularly troubling rash.

The new trailer gives us another taste of the show’s signature blend of sun-soaked scenery, dark comedy and increasingly ridiculous situations. Vaughn’s wonderfully deadpan delivery remains at the centre of it all, with Yancy once again looking like a man who would very much appreciate a quiet life, if only he could stop getting dragged into other people’s crimes.

Alongside Vaughn and Martinez, returning cast members include Charlotte Lawrence and John Ortiz (Promised Land). However, it’s the new additions that should make things particularly interesting, with John Malkovich (The New Pope), Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale) and Zavior Phillips joining the regular cast.

There’s also an impressive collection of guest stars, including Dax Shepard (Parenthood), Sofia Boutella (Rebel Moon), Brent Morin (Undateable), Nate Jackson (The Paper), Sam Jaeger (The Handmaid’s Tale), Margarita Levieva (The Deuce), Peter Billingsley (A Christmas Story), Joey Avery and June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie).

Behind the scenes, Lawrence returns as showrunner and executive producer through his Doozer Productions banner, with Warner Bros. Television producing. Vaughn also serves as an executive producer alongside Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses, Liza Katzer, Adam Sztykiel, Chris Downey and original novelist Carl Hiaasen.

The second season consists of 10 episodes, released weekly, taking viewers through the festive season and into February. Given the amount of trouble Yancy managed to find himself in last time, it’s probably safe to assume his Christmas won’t be particularly relaxing.

If you missed the first season of ‘Bad Monkey’, all 10 episodes are currently available to stream on Apple TV, giving you plenty of time to catch up before Yancy’s next spectacularly messy adventure begins.

‘Bad Monkey‘ Season 2 premieres Wednesday, 2nd December 2026 on Apple TV.
