Prime Video has announced another expansion to ‘The Boys’ as they reveal prequel series ‘The Boys: Vought Rising‘, starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash.
“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys,” said executive producer Eric Kripke and series showrunner and executive producer Paul Grellong. “It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical manoeuvres of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”
The announcement was made during the Emmy-winning series The Boys’ Hall H San Diego Comic-Con panel. The news was revealed when Ackles surprised the SDCC audience by coming on stage and tossing to a video from Cash. Past spinoffs from the world of The Boys include ‘Gen V‘, which is due to return for Season 2 in 2025, and The Boys Presents: Diabolical, both streaming exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
It was also announced at the panel that Ackles would be returning to the main series for its fifth and final season as a series regular. “The motherf*cker’s back,” as Kripke so eloquently put it at the panel. Soldier Boy’s return was hinted at in the Season 4 finale post-credit scene.
‘Vought Rising’ will star Aya Cash and Jensen Ackles, who will also serve as producers. Paul Grellong will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and Michaela Starr also serve as executive producers on the series. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.
‘The Boys: Vought Rising‘ does not yet have a premiere date, but if you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
