Apple TV+ has set an October premiere date for Season 2 of the comedy ‘Shrinking‘, starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, from the creators of ‘Ted Lasso’.
Shrinking’ follows a grieving therapist (played by Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives… including his own.
Ford takes on the role of Dr. Phil Rhodes, a down-to-earth, sharp-as-a-tack “blue-collar shrink,” blunt but with an ever-present twinkle. Phil is a pioneer in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy who has built a successful practice over the years that he shares with his two young proteges, Jimmy and Gaby. Fiercely independent, Phil has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, which forces him out of his comfort zone as he grapples with intrusive friends, his estranged family and his legacy.
In addition to Segel and Ford, the series stars Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie and Lukita Maxwell. It has also been revealed that actor and ‘Shrinking’ co-creator Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso) is set to guest star in Season 2 in an undisclosed role.
‘Shrinking’ comes from Emmy Award-winning ‘Ted Lasso’ co-creator Bill Lawrence, Emmy Award-winning ‘Ted Lasso’ star, writer and co-executive producer Brett Goldstein and Segel. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence is under an overall deal, and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Randall Winston, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Rachna Fruchbom, Brian Gallivan and Annie Mebane serve as executive producers.
‘Shrinking‘ Season 2 premieres Wednesday, 16th October 2024 on Apple TV+ globally.
