With the 4th and final season of ‘The Umbrella Academy‘ due to land on Netflix later this week, the streamer has released a video of the Hargreeves Family trying to explain just what the heck has happened so far…
If you have yet to catch the wonderfully weird family superhero drama, it is based in a reality where, on the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by a billionaire who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. Season 1 saw the six surviving members reunite upon the news of their father’s passing and having to work as a team once more to solve a mystery surrounding his death. But the estranged family begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.
In preparation for the final season, the video above features Luther (Tom Hopper), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Diego (David Castañeda), Viktor (Elliot Page), Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) and Ben (Justin H. Min) explaining (or trying to!) what happened in seasons one to three, and where we’re at for the start of this last outing.
Joining the returning lead cast for season four are Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation, The Last Of Us) and Megan Mullally (Will & Grace) who play doctors Gene and Jean Thibedeau, a married pair of community college professors from New Mexico who wear sensible footwear and suffer from the most extreme case of deja vu this timeline has ever seen. Also joining is David Cross (Arrested Development) as Sy Grossman, an upstanding, shy business owner and family man desperate to reconnect with his estranged daughter, who will stop at nothing to get her back. Colm Feore also reprises his role as Sir Reginald Hargreeves.
Steve Blackman returns as showrunner and exec producer, with Jeff F. King as EP and director. Keith Goldberg, Mike Richardson, and Jeremy Webb also EP, with comic creators Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá as co-exec producers. The series is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, for Netflix.
‘The Umbrella Academy‘ Season 4 will be six episodes, and premieres Thursday, 8th August 2024 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
