Prime Video Orders ‘Reacher’ Spin-Off Starring Maria Sten As “Neagley”

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video is expanding their Reacher series as they announced The Untitled Neagley Project which sees Maria Sten (Reacher, Swamp Thing) reprise her role as the private investigator.

Frances Neagley is a private investigator in Chicago. When she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell-bent on justice. Using everything she’s learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil.

“I’m beyond thrilled to further explore the world of Neagley and her somewhat mysterious background,” said Maria Sten. “She’s such a wonderful character to play and I’m very excited for everyone to get to know her a little better.”

The series is created for television by co-showrunners and executive producers Nick Santora (Reacher, Prison Break, FUBAR) and Nicholas Wootton (Law & Order, Prison Break) and produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios.

“As Reacher continues to resonate with our global customers in a profound way, expanding on the storytelling and characters with a spinoff was an easy decision,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “With Nick and Nicholas as well as our partners Skydance and CBS Studios, we’re confident this new chapter, starring the amazing Maria Sten, will not only honour the Reacher legacy but also bring fresh energy and excitement to new and longtime fans alike.”

If you’ve yet to catch the main show, Reacher is based on Lee Child’s popular Jack Reacher novels. The drama follows Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson), a former military police officer turned drifter, as he navigates a life of solving complex crimes and delivering justice, often with intense physical confrontations. Known for his imposing physicality and sharp mind, Reacher uncovers conspiracies and uncovers hidden truths. The series, praised for its faithful adaptation and action-packed sequences, captures the essence of the novels, especially the character’s no-nonsense approach to justice. The series was renewed in December 2023 for a 3rd Season, which is based on Persuader, the 7th book in the Jack Reacher series.

“Lee Child created an immensely rich character with Neagley, and Maria Sten brought her to life in such a vivid, authentic way in Reacher,” said Santora and Wootton. “Amazon, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios have been tremendous partners from the start, and we are excited to explore Neagley’s story further and dive into what makes her so unique.”

In addition to Santora and Wootton, the series is executive produced by Lee Child, Don Granger, and Lisa Kussner with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television. Carolyn Harris, Kenny Madrid, and Niko Fernandez will oversee the project for Skydance.

“We are thrilled to be expanding the world of Reacher with Amazon and CBS Studios to explore the fan favorite character of Neagley with the extraordinary Maria Sten,” said Dana Goldberg, Chief Creative Officer, Skydance. “Nick Santora did an incredible job adapting  Lee Child’s Reacher novels for television. With Nick and Nicholas Wootton at the helm, audiences are in for another captivating adventure in the Reacher universe.”

The series marks Skydance Television’s seventh project with Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video following the hit series Reacher and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, as well as the upcoming Cross and the recently announced The Runarounds, an action-adventure series starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham, and a docuseries on the Idaho Murders.

The Untitled Neagley Project” does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Prime Video in the USA, UK and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. ‘Reacher‘ Season 3 also does not have a premiere date yet, although is expected to land in Early 2025.  If you want to keep track of these or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get UK premiere dates.
