With ‘The Devil’s Hour‘ Season 2 due to drop on Prime Video later this month, we had the chance to catch up with its stars, Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine, to see if they will spill at least a few beans about Tom Moran’s brilliant genre-bending series.
Season one of ‘The Devil’s Hour’ follows the story of Lucy (Raine) who is woken every night by terrifying visions at exactly 3.33am: the devil’s hour. Her eight-year-old son is withdrawn and emotionless. Her mother speaks to empty chairs. Her house is haunted by the echoes of a life that isn’t her own. When Lucy’s name is inexplicably connected to a string of brutal murders in the area, the answers that have evaded her all these years will finally come into focus.
Capaldi plays Gideon, a reclusive nomad driven by a murderous obsession. He becomes the prime target of a police manhunt led by compassionate detective Ravi Dhillon, played by Nikesh Patel.
Season Two sees Lucy and Gideon forming an uneasy alliance in order to prevent a recurring tragedy and hunt down an elusive monster. Lucy’s double life sees her torn between family and duty as she finds herself in the crosshairs of her past-life husband, DI Ravi Dhillon. Meanwhile, Isaac (Benjamin Chivers) is discovering new emotions every day and struggling to keep his balance in a reality that rejects his existence. Fresh mysteries unfold as our stories converge on one explosive moment that will change the fate of our characters for the rest of their ever-recurring lives.
The series also stars Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso) and Meera Syal (Yesterday, Goodness Gracious Me). Saffron Hocking (Top Boy) joins the cast for season two as DS Sam Boyd, who was mentored by DI Lucy Chambers in a previous life.
Produced by Hartswood Films (‘Dracula’, ‘Sherlock’), and brilliantly written and constructed by Tom Moran, the series is executive produced by Steven Moffat (‘Doctor Who’, ‘Dracula’, ‘Sherlock’), Moran, and Sue Vertue (‘Dracula’, ‘Sherlock’). The series is produced by Lawrence Till (Douglas is Cancelled), and directed by Johnny Allan and Shaun James Grant.
The mind-bending thriller has already been commissioned for a third and final season, with filming wrapping at Shepperton Studios earlier in the year.
‘The Devil’s Hour‘ Season 2 premieres Friday, 18th October 2024 on Prime Video in the UK and exclusively in over 240 countries and territories.
