The upcoming HBO Original Harry Potter television series has unveiled more of its cast, revealing familiar names from the wizarding world as the project continues to take shape ahead of its debut on HBO Max.

Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd, Defending the Guilty) will step into the role of Molly Weasley, the warm-hearted matriarch of the Weasley family. Known for her sharp comedic timing and emotional range, Parkinson brings a welcome blend of humour and heart to one of the saga’s most beloved characters.

The Malfoy family is also coming into focus, with newcomer Lox Pratt cast as Draco Malfoy, and Johnny Flynn (Ripley, Lovesick) taking on the role of his father, the cold and calculating Lucius Malfoy.

Hogwarts is gaining more of its student body too. Leo Earley joins as Seamus Finnigan, with Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, fleshing out more of Harry’s classmates from Gryffindor and beyond.

Over in the Muggle world, Bel Powley (Everything I Know About Love, The Morning Show) and Daniel Rigby (Eric, Big School) have been cast as Petunia and Vernon Dursley, Harry’s famously unpleasant aunt and uncle.

Meanwhile, Bertie Carvel (Doctor Foster, Dalgliesh) will play Cornelius Fudge, the often beleaguered Minister for Magic whose actions—and inactions—have far-reaching consequences across the wizarding world.

These latest additions join the previously announced cast, which includes newcomers Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. They’ll be joined by John Lithgow (Dexter, The Crown, The Old Man) as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu (The Lazarus Project, I May Destroy You, Gangs of London) as Severus Snape, Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Into the Badlands) as Hagrid, and Janet McTeer (Kaos, Jessica Jones) as Minerva McGonagall.

Billed as a faithful, long-form adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s original novels, the series will span multiple seasons, with each season expected to cover one of the books. It will stream on HBO Max in all available territories, including planned future launches in Germany, Italy, and the UK. The original film series will remain available globally.

The show is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner (His Dark Materials, Succession), with Mark Mylod (Succession, Game of Thrones) directing multiple episodes and also serving as executive producer. The series is produced by HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman, who also produced the original Harry Potter films.

Harry Potter‘ Season 1 does not yet have a premiere date, but will air on HBO Max in the UK, USA and other territories where available. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
