ITV Renews ‘Trigger Point’ For Season 4 As Filming Wraps On Season 3

by Dave Elliott

ITV has confirmed that Trigger Point, the high-stakes bomb disposal thriller starring Vicky McClure (Line of Duty), will return for a fourth explosive season. The recommission comes as production wraps on season three, which has been filming across London since January and is set to air this Autumn on ITV1 and STV, with streaming available via ITVX and STV Player.

Trigger Point follows the work of the EXPOs, bomb disposal experts tasked with keeping London safe from explosive threats. At the centre of the action is McClure’s character Lana Washington, who leads the team through tense, high-risk missions that frequently push them to their limits.

Speaking about the early recommission, Vicky McClure said:

“We’re all buzzing ITV have such faith in this series to commission a fourth before the third has even aired. I love working with the team, we have a great time making the show and I cannot wait to continue Lana’s journey on Trigger Point.”

The show remains one of ITV’s most-watched dramas. Season two averaged a strong 8.1 million viewers and racked up over 30 million streams on ITVX. Season three also enjoyed a royal seal of approval, with Her Majesty The Queen visiting the set in March to mark the beginning of ITV’s 70th anniversary celebrations.

Polly Hill, ITV’s Director of Drama, commented:

Trigger Point is one of ITV’s most-watched dramas of last year after Mr Bates vs The Post Office, so I’m delighted that this thrilling series is returning for a fourth series. I know audiences will be once again on the edge of their seat as Lana and the team take us on another thrilling ride to keep the capital safe.”

Created by Daniel Brierley, the upcoming series will be written by Chris Brandon (Bloodlands) and directed by Jennie Darnell (Line of Duty, Payback) and Nirpal Bhogal (DI Ray, Grace). Kristian Dench (Red Eye, The Capture) returns as series producer, alongside block producer Kingsley Hoskins (The Road Trip, The Flatshare).

Executive producers include Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty), Daniel Walker (Boat Story), Jessica Sharkey (Derry Girls), Chris Brandon, and McClure herself. HTM Television produces the series in association with All3Media International, who handle global distribution. Season four will film this summer and is scheduled to arrive on screens in 2026.

Trigger Point‘ Season 3 will premiere in Autumn 2025 on ITV1 and STV, with streaming available via ITVX and STV Player. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
