Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios have officially greenlit ‘Mister Miracle‘, a new adult animated series based on the acclaimed 12-issue comic by Tom King and Mitch Gerads. The series is currently in production, with King himself serving as executive producer and showrunner.
Following the success of Creature Commandos, which marked DC Studios’ first venture into adult animation, Mister Miracle becomes the second such project from the studio. It joins a growing slate of animated titles including Starfire!, My Adventures with Green Lantern, and DC Super Powers. Interestingly, the press release says, a network or platform for Mister Miracle has not yet been confirmed… although you’d expect them to air it on HBO Max…
Who is Mister Miracle?
No prison can hold him. No trap can contain him. He is Scott Free, the worldwide celebrity sensation known as Mister Miracle, and he is the greatest escape artist who ever lived. But can he pull off the ultimate trick – and escape death itself?
Mister Miracle follows Scott Free, the galaxy’s most famous illusionist and escape artist, who appears to be living the perfect life on Earth with his equally formidable wife Big Barda. But as war ignites once more between the hellish Apokolips and utopian New Genesis, Scott’s peace begins to unravel.
His adoptive father, the tyrannical Darkseid, may finally possess the Anti-Life Equation, a terrifying weapon capable of bending all sentient will to his control. As the conflict escalates and Scott’s mind begins to fracture under the pressure, he must embark on a surreal, soul-searching journey to save his world, his family, and himself.
Blending the cosmic with the domestic, the tragic with the absurd, Mister Miracle promises a wild and deeply emotional ride, and fans of the comic will know to expect something both bold and unflinchingly human.
The announcement reinforces Warner Bros. Animation’s push into mature storytelling within the DC Universe, building on a storied legacy that already includes Harley Quinn, Creature Commandos, and My Adventures with Superman. With Tom King, a key creative voice behind DC’s more psychological and literary recent output, at the helm, this is one to watch closely.
If you want to keep track of ‘Mister Miracle‘ or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
